Gu-Ben-Fang-Xiao-Tang (GBFXT) is a traditional Chinese medicine formula consisting of 11 medicinal plants, which has been used in the treatment of asthma. The present study aimed to determine the protective effects and the underlying mechanisms of GBFXT on ovalbumin (OVA)-induced allergic inflammation in a mouse model of allergic asthma. A total of 50 mice were randomly assigned to the following five experimental groups: Normal, model, montelukast (2.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate correlation between full-length spleen tyrosine kinase [SYK (L)] expression and clinical characteristics of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC), and explore effects of SYK (L) on invasion and metastasis of LSCC.

Methods: The human laryngeal cancer Hep-2 cells with low SYK (L) expression were transfected with pIRES2-EGFP-SYK (L) vector and empty vector pIRES2-EGFP to generate Hep-2-SYK (L) cells and Hep-2-neo cells. The cell invasion and migration abilities were determined.

The purpose of the present study is to investigate the prevalence of Th17 and regulatory T (Treg) cells in children with allergic rhinitis (AR) accompanying with bronchial asthma (BA). 24 children with AR, 22 children with BA, 18 children with AR accompanying with BA, and 20 healthy controls were recruited. The prevalence of peripheral blood Th17 and Treg cells were determined by flow cytometry.

Objective: To evaluate the safety of the circular round window and discus anatomic landmarks of posterior wall of internal auditory canal by investigating the microscopic anatomy of internal auditory canal area of the retrosigmold approach, which can provide the anatomical basis for acoustic neutrinomas surgery.

Method: Fifteen adult cadaver heads (30 sides) fixed with formalin were used in the study. The retrosigmold approach operations were imitated to dissect the blood vessels and nerves in internal auditory canal area by opening round bony window and removing posterior wall of internal auditory canal.

Objective: To study the effect of gene transfection of full length spleen tyrosine kinase (Syk (L)) on the biological behavior of malignant cancer cells.

Methods: Eukaryotic expression vector pIRES2-EGFP-Syk (L) was constrauted and sequenc. Laryngeal carcinoma cell line Hep-2 were transfected with pIRES2-EGFP-Syk (L) vectors or blank vectors.

The present study employed 5-aza-2'-deoxycytidine (5-aza-CdR) to treat nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell line CNE-1, CNE-2 and non-cancerous human nasopharyngeal epithelial cell line NP-69 to understand the effects on spleen tyrosine kinase (Syk) gene promoter methylation. The results showed that the methylation level of Syk gene is negatively associated with the differentiation level of the cell lines, and the 5-aza-CdR treatment decreased the methylation level in nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell lines. Additionally, the drug sensitivity of low-differentiated cell line was significantly higher than the high-differentiated cell line.

The aim of this study was to investigate the mRNA and protein expression levels of the Syk gene as well as its promoter methylation in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) cell lines. The CNE-1 (highly differentiated), CNE-2 (poorly differentiated) and NP69 (non-cancerous human immortalized nasopharyngeal epithelial cells) cell lines were used in the present study. The MS-PCR, Q-RT-PCR and western blotting methods were used to examine the Syk gene promoter methylation levels and mRNA and protein expression in the three cell lines.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates a method to visualize facial nerve anatomical landmarks using multi-slice CT with a technique called double oblique multi-planar reconstruction (MPR) during transmastoid and epitympanum approaches.!* -
  • Two temporal bones were dissected to observe the facial nerve landmarks, and the method was applied to 30 adult corpses, achieving a 100% success rate in visualizing these landmarks.!* -
  • Results show that double oblique MPR is more effective than traditional imaging planes (transverse, coronal, sagittal) in displaying facial nerve anatomy, providing critical information for surgeries.*

To investigate the expression of cyclin G1, cyclin G2 in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) cell lines and its significance. The protein expression of cyclin G1, cyclin G2 in NPC cell lines of different differentiation degree (HNE2, CNE1) was detected by indirect immunofluorescence. The mRNA expression of cyclin G1, cyclin G2 in HNE2 and CNE1 was measured with RT-PCR.

Decompression operation of the optic canal via the nasal path under endoscope is widely used, but it is both a challenging and controversial method. Unsatisfactory results were largely associated with otolaryngologists' limited understanding of the real anatomical situations of the optic canal before operation. To provide otolaryngologists with the real situations and data preoperation, multislice helical CT was used to reconstruct the images of the optic canal.

Objective: To investigate the accuracy and clinical application of multi-slice spiral CT imaging on optic canal area.

Method: Forty intact specimens of human corpse head were tested with three dimensional reconstruction of multi-slice spiral CT imaging. The results of radiology and anatomy were compared on adjacent structures of optic canal interior wall and its developmental relationship with sphenoid sinus.
