Paqr9 is a gene encoding membrane progestin receptor e (mPRe), the fifth subtype of the five mPR subtypes, and is currently classified a member of the progestin and adipoQ receptor (PAQR) family, which consists of 11 genes. To elucidate the physiological functions of the mPR subtypes, we established gene knockout (KO) fish via genome editing of seven paqr genes in zebrafish and analyzed their phenotypes. The null-mutant strain of paqr9 (paqr9) that we established in this study presented reduced chorion elevation and a high percentage of abnormal embryos.

Materials And Methods: This cross-sectional study used a bilingual, multi-item, closed-ended, anonymous questionnaire adopted from the extant literature studies on the topic.
Background And Purpose: Despite thiamine deficiency being a lesser-known entity in modern times, beriberi in various forms, including thiamine deficiency-related neuropathy, remains endemic in Kashmir due to the consumption of polished rice as a staple food. This observational study investigates cases of peripheral neuropathy of unknown etiology and their potential responsiveness to thiamine administration.
Methods: This prospective study enrolled adult patients presenting to the emergency department with weakness consistent with thiamine deficiency-related neuropathy and conducted a therapeutic challenge with thiamine on 41 patients.
An experiment was carried out to explore the impact of petroleum hydrocarbons (PHs)-degrading microbial consortium (MC) on phytoremediation ability and growth of water hyacinth (WH) plants in water contaminated with lead (Pb) and PHs. Buckets (12-L capacity) were filled with water and WH plants, PHs (2,400 mg L) and Pb (10 mg L) in respective buckets. Plants were harvested after 30 days of transplanting and results showed that PHs and Pb substantially reduced the agronomic (up to 62%) and physiological (up to 49%) attributes of WH plants.
