Aim: The "2022 ACC/AHA Guideline for the Diagnosis and Management of Aortic Disease" provides recommendations to guide clinicians in the diagnosis, genetic evaluation and family screening, medical therapy, endovascular and surgical treatment, and long-term surveillance of patients with aortic disease across its multiple clinical presentation subsets (ie, asymptomatic, stable symptomatic, and acute aortic syndromes).

Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted from January 2021 to April 2021, encompassing studies, reviews, and other evidence conducted on human subjects that were published in English from PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library, CINHL Complete, and other selected databases relevant to this guideline. Additional relevant studies, published through June 2022 during the guideline writing process, were also considered by the writing committee, where appropriate.

This study sought to compare the impact of additional anticoagulation or thrombolytic therapy in patients with cardiac arrest without ST-segment-elevation on electrocardiography and not receiving percutaneous coronary intervention. Three studies (two randomized controlled studies and one observational study) were included, which demonstrated that use of anticoagulation or thrombolytic therapy was associated with higher risk of bleeding, without improvements in time to return of spontaneous circulation or in-hospital mortality.

Patients And Methods: MEDLINE, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library were queried systematically from inception to January 2021 for comparative studies of adults (≥18 years) with AMI-CA/CS receiving DAPT with newer P2Y inhibitors as opposed to clopidogrel. We compared outcomes (30-day or in-hospital and 1-year all-cause mortality, major bleeding, and definite stent thrombosis) of newer P2Y inhibitors and clopidogrel in patients with AMI-CA/CS.

There are limited contemporary data evaluating the relation between hospital characteristics and outcomes of patients with cardiac arrest complicating acute myocardial infarction (AMI-CA). As such, we used the National Inpatient Sample database (2000 to 2017), to identify adult admissions with primary diagnosis of AMI and concomitant CA. Interhospital transfers were excluded, and hospitals were classified based on location and teaching status (rural, urban nonteaching, and urban teaching) and bed size (small, medium, and large).

Coronary artery bypass surgery has been the accepted treatment for left main coronary artery disease for over 50 years. Balloon angioplasty was later used then abandoned because of deaths likely due to restenosis or thrombotic occlusion. However, rapid innovations in drug-eluting stent designs leading to more biocompatible thin strut platforms with optimal drug elution profiles and further advances in modern pharmacotherapy involving potent P2Y inhibitors combined with utilization of intracoronary imaging and physiologic assessment for procedural planning and optimization have transformed percutaneous interventions into successful alternatives to coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG) in selected LM anatomic territories.
