Systemic management of prostate cancer.

The objective of this review is to explore different therapeutic options for metastatic adenocarcinoma of the prostate. Orchiectomy, estrogen therapy, synthetic LHRH analogs and possibly antiandrogens are equally effective frontline treatment modalities. Ketoconazole is indicated in emergency situations, but chronic use is prevented by serious idiosyncratic toxicity and by long term complications.
