Article Synopsis
  • Clinical heterogeneity in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) makes it difficult for researchers to understand its neurobiological mechanisms, prompting a study using a maternal immune activation mouse model to investigate behavioral variations and brain circuitry related to ASD symptoms.!* -
  • The study involved testing pups from mothers treated with Poly (I:C) and those with a control treatment, utilizing various behavioral tests to assess social behavior, stereotypic behavior, and cognitive flexibility, while also measuring brain region thickness.!* -
  • Results showed a spectrum of behavioral differences among the groups, with thicker hippocampal regions observed in mice exhibiting stereotypic behavior, indicating that the Poly (I:C) model effectively mimics ASD-related behavioral and neurological differences.!*

Background: Glioma is the most common type of brain tumors and isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH1) gene is the most prominent molecular marker about the disease prognosis, response to therapy and patient survival. There are conflicting data about the effect of IDH1 mutation on glial cell proliferation, invasion and migration characteristics. The effect of IDH1 mutation on mTOR signaling pathway, which has key roles in tumorigenesis process, is limited and previous data is controversial.
