The oral administration of water extract obtained from a residue after MeOH extraction of rhizomes significantly prolonged the survival period of the infected mice at a dose of 140 mg/kg/day compared with control mice, while the MeOH extract did not. In the crude polysaccharide fraction (F-2) obtained by EtOH precipitation of the water extract, a significant life-prolonging effect was observed by the administration of 70 mg/kg/day.

The anti-inflammatory effect of lanoconazole (LCZ) was investigated in vivo and in vitro. To investigate the effects of peritoneal fluid from patients with endometriosis on mouse peritoneal macrophages (Mphi), peritoneal fluid from endometriosis patients (n = 15) were added to a monolayer of C3H/HeJ mouse peritoneal Mphi. The combined effects of lysozyme and various antifungal agents were investigated by microbroth dilution method against Candida albicans in vitro. Synergistic anti-Candida activity was observed between egg white lysozyme and itraconazole, clotrimazole, miconazole and lanoconazole. Similar, although not as clear, combination anti-Candida activities were seen in the cases of ketoconazole, bifonazole, amphotericin B and nystatin.
