Induction of new metabolites from sponge-associated fungus Aspergillus carneus by OSMAC approach.

A comparative study on the metabolic profile of the sponge-associated fungus Aspergillus carneus using the OSMAC approach was conducted. The fungal strain was fermented on three different media including solid rice medium with or without sea salt and modified Czapek medium. Three new natural products, isopropylchaetominine (1), isoterrelumamide A (2) and 5'-epi-averufanin (3), together with fourteen known compounds (4-17) were isolated.

Biophysical evaluation of physiological effects of gilthead sea bream (Sparus aurata) farming using FTIR spectroscopy.

Sparus aurata is one of the two most important cultured fish species in the Mediterranean region. The present work investigates the effects of culturing in S. aurata liver tissue at the molecular level using Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy.

Preliminary assessment of dietary mannanoligosaccharides on growth performance and health status of gilthead seabream Sparus auratus.

A feeding trial was performed to assess the potential beneficial effect of two levels of mannanoligosaccarides (MOS) on the growth performance, feed utilization, hematological parameters, and liver histopathology of gilthead seabream Sparus auratus (also known as gilthead bream). Mannanoligosaccarides were added at the rates of 2 and 4 g/kg to a fish-meal-based control diet, and each diet was given (twice daily [midmorning and midafternoon] to apparent satiation) to triplicate groups of gilthead seabream growers (mean weight = approximately 170 g) in sea cages. The trial lasted 12 weeks, and the average ambient water temperature ranged from 19.

Vibriosis as an epizootic disease of rainbow trout (Onchorynchus mykiss) in Turkey.

Vibrio anguillarum O1 was isolated from diseased cultured rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss, in the Southern Aegean of Turkey with lesions and signs of vibriosis. Gram (-), motile and curved rods from diseased rainbow trout were identified after physiological, biochemical and slide agglutination tests as V. anguillarum O1.
