Background/aims: It was aimed to investigate the biochemical and histopathological effects of resveratrol and melatonin, via histone H4 and β-defensin 1, in diabetic rats.
Materials And Methods: Twenty-four Sprague-Dawley male rats were categorized into 4 groups, with 6 rats in each group (control, diabetes mellitus, melatonin - diabetes mellitus, and resveratrol+diabetes mellitus). Diabetes was formed by giving streptozotocin to all groups except the control group.
Objective: It was targeted to assess the efficacy of certolizumab on pancreas and target organs via biochemical parameters and histopathologic scores in experimental acute pancreatitis (AP).
Materials And Methods: Forty male Sprague Dawley rats were divided into the following 5 equal groups: group 1 (sham group), group 2 (AP group), group 3 (AP + low-dose certolizumab group), group 4 (AP + high-dose certolizumab group), and group 5 (placebo group). Rats in all groups were sacrificed 24 hours after the last injection and amylase, tumor necrosis factor α, transforming growth factor β, interleukin 1β, malondialdehyde, superoxide dismutase, and glutathione peroxidase levels were studied in blood samples.
Objective: The study aimed to assess the predictive significance of inflammatory parameters as potential markers for malignancy in individuals with thyroid nodules.
Method: Nine hundred and ninety-one patients with thyroid nodules who had undergone thyroid fine-needle aspiration biopsy were included and classified according to the Bethesda system. Neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) values obtained from hemogram parameters were determined for each patient.
Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are noncoding RNA molecules with a heterogeneous structure consisting of 200 or more nucleotides. Because these noncoding RNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II, they have properties similar to messenger RNA (mRNA). Contrary to popular belief, the term "ncRNA" originated before the discovery of microRNAs.

Objective: Crohn's disease (CD), an inflammatory bowel disease with unknown etiology, is influenced by genetic, environmental, and immunological factors. This study aimed to analyze the blood microbiome and inflammasome responses, emphasizing NLRP3 protein expression and IL-1β and IL-18 plasma levels, between Crohn's patients and healthy subjects.
Methods: A total of 40 volunteers were included in this study.
Aim: To assess the effects of 4-phenyl butyric acid (PBA) on oxidative stress, inflammation, liver histology, endoplasmic (ER) reticulum stress, and the expression levels of ATP-binding cassette transporter family members in a hepatic ischemia-reperfusion (IR) model.
Methods: Thirty-five rats were randomly divided into five groups: sham, IR, IR + 100 mg kg-1 PBA, IR + 200 mg kg-1 PBA, and IR + placebo. After sacrifice, we assessed serum biochemical variables, myeloperoxidase (MPO), malondialdehyde (MDA), total antioxidant status (TAS), and total oxidant status (TOS).
Introduction: To date, the world has experienced four waves of the Coronavirus disease- 19 (COVID-19) pandemic. Patients infected during the era of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) Delta variant were the subject of this study. The objectives were to describe their clinical manifestations, explain their laboratory and radiological findings, conclude factors contributing to clinical outcomes, and evaluate treatment protocols.

It was aimed to evaluate the predictive role of circulating miR-33a and mir-200c on high fructose corn syrup (HFCS)-induced fatty liver and vitamin D3 supplementation-related hepatic changes.
Methods: Twenty-four rats were randomized into three groups: sham (n = 8), experimental fatty liver group (n = 8), and fatty liver + vitamin D3 supplementation group (n = 8).
Background: The aim of the study was to evaluate whether a new and successful treatment opportunity can be provided in acute pancreatitis and may prevent symptomatic treatments and show its effect through etiopathogenesis. Therefore, we want to investigate the efficacy of golimumab in an experimental rat model of cerulein-induced acute pancreatitis.
Methods: A total of 35 rats, including 7 rats in each group, were distributed into 5 groups (sham, acute pancreatitis, placebo, acute pancreatitis+golimumab 5 mg/kg, and acute pancreatitis+golimumab 10 mg/kg).

In this study, the use of the derived isohemagglutinin (dIH) parameter calculated from isohemagglutinin (IH) values and neutrophil to lymphocyte ratios for prediction of clinical care (CLC), ICU admission and mortality status was investigated for the morbidity and mortality of COVID-19. The data of approximately 21,500 patients admitted to the hospital with the suspicion of COVID-19 were scanned retrospectively.

The occurrence of false-negative results of RT- PCR interferes with a proper diagnosis. The objectives of that work were to determine factors associated with persistently detectable SARS-CoV-2 RNA among recovered hospitalized patients and to determine the incidence of false-negative RT-PCR results and associated factors.

Material And Method: In this multicentric retrospective study, a total of 269 adult patients (≥18 years of age) with confirmed COVID-19 who were hospitalised for the treatment were enrolled. Demographic features, complete medical history and laboratory findings of the study participants at admission were obtained from the medical records.
Aim: In this study, it was aimed to investigate the relationship between expression levels of micro-RNAs, endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, apoptosis and oxidative stress markers in hepatic ischaemia-reperfusion (IR) injury.
Methods: Sixteen rats were randomised into two groups: Sham and IR groups. In the IR group, portal vein and hepatic artery were totally clamped with an atraumatic microvascular clamp and 60 minutes later unclamped and finally IR model was accomplished (60 minutes ischaemia and 60 minutes reperfusion).
Aims: The relationship between the innate immune system that creates the polysaccharide antibody response and COVID-19 is not fully understood. In this study, it was aimed to determine the predictive values of isohaemagglutinins in COVID-19 severity/mortality.
Methods: Approximately 15 440 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 were examined, and a total of 286 patients with anti-B and anti-A1 IgM isohaemagglutinins test results were randomly enrolled in the study.
Background: Currently, there is not any specific treatment for chronic pancreatitis (CP). It was aimed to investigate the effects of melatonin administration on endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, oxidative stress, fibrosis, biochemical and histopathological parameters, and Abcc2,Abcc5, and Abcg2 gene levels in an experimental rat CP model.
Methods: Forty rats were randomized into five groups: Sham, CP, CP+25 mg/kg melatonin, CP+50 mg/kg melatonin, and CP+placebo.
Background And Study Aims: Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) is a procedure that provides long term enteral nutrition. To investigate the predictors of PEG-related complications and 30-day mortality rates and evaluate the indicators for deciding whether to recommend elective PEG insertions, we sought to determine the complications and early mortality rates of patients who underwent PEG.
Patients And Methods: We performed a retrospective analysis of consecutive adult patients who had undergone PEG for the first time between October 2016 and January 2019.
Background: Ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) is cellular damage that emerges from re-oxygenation of a hypoxic organ. In the present study, we aimed to examine the effects of a combination of levosimendan, an inotropic agent, and N-Acetylcysteine, the precursor of antioxidants and glutathione, in an experimental liver IRI model.
Methods: In this study, 38 rats were randomly divided into five groups.
