Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate and compare muscle activity in patients with skeletal Class II malocclusion treated with rigid and flexible fixed functional appliances.
  • Fourteen patients aged 13-17 were divided into two groups: one using a rigid appliance (MPA IV) and the other a flexible appliance (Churro Jumper), with muscle activity measured using EMG.
  • Results indicated both appliances significantly increased muscle activity in the masseter and anterior temporalis muscles, but the flexible Churro Jumper produced a greater increase than the rigid MPA IV during various activities like resting, swallowing, and clenching.
