Objectives: This study aimed to determine the clinical utility of the androgen deprivation therapy (ADT)+docetaxel (DOCE)+androgen receptor-targeted agent (ARTA) triplet therapy in patients with metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC) in the UK.
Design: A modified Delphi method. A steering group of eight UK healthcare professionals experienced in prostate cancer care discussed treatment challenges, developing 39 consensus statements across four topics.
Background: Older people living in care homes are often frail and clinically complex. The Enhanced Health in Care Homes (EHCH) framework supports organisational and clinical strategies to deliver good care, promoting proactive person-centred care by whole system collaboration. We evaluate the impact of a new role, the Extensivist, in the delivery of EHCH for older people living in care homes.

Older patients with cancer are underrepresented in the pivotal clinical trials with ICIs. Older patients with cancer often have significant comorbidities and geriatric syndromes like frailty, which can complicate cancer care and treatment decisions.

Managing cancer in older adults may prove challenging owing to pre-existing frailty, comorbidity, and wider holistic needs, as well as the unclear benefits and harms of standard treatment options. With the ongoing advances in oncology and the increasing complexity of treating older adults with cancer, the geriatric oncology field must be a priority for healthcare systems in education, research, and clinical practice.

Development of high-performance and highly selective NIR photodetectors (PDs) using wide band gap semiconductors is a significant field of research in the present scenario. Herein, cost effective and easy fabrication of NIR PDs is demonstrated by employing the thin films of CdMgS ( = 0, 0.01, 0.

In the United Kingdom (UK), as the number of older cancer patients increases, the management of this group has become part of daily practice for most oncology teams in every geographical area.

Although survival data is available other outcomes such as functional recovery are less well described. This systematic review and narrative synthesis describes functional recovery after gynaeoncology surgery with respect to baseline characteristics.

Background: National cancer strategy calls for comprehensive assessments for older people but current practice across the United Kingdom is not well described.
Aim: To identify current assessment methods and access to relevant supporting services for older people with cancer.
Methods: A web-based survey (SurveyMonkey) targeting health professionals (oncologists, cancer surgeons, geriatricians, nurses and allied health professionals) was distributed January-April 2016 United Kingdom nationally recognised professional societies.
The incidence of most gynaecological malignancies rises significantly with increasing age. With an ageing population, the proportion of women over the age of 65 with cancer is expected to rise substantially over the next decade. Unfortunately, survival outcomes are much poorer in older patients and evidence suggests that older women with gynaecological cancers are less likely to receive current standard of care treatment options.

Once identified as the cause, her symptoms rapidly improved with antihistamines and discontinuing the Tamiflu. The authors find only one other case in the literature reporting this very rare side effect.
