[Consumption of non-standard medication in indigenous health: rational usage?].

The study analyzed the consumption of non-standard medication in the health of indigenous peoples, emphasizing the rationality of pharmacotherapy, by conducting a cross-sectional study of secondary data from 2018 and 2019 in the Minas Gerais/Espírito Santo Special Sanitary Indigenous Health Districts. These medicines were classified by Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical Classification. Non-parametric tests were applied to compare the origin of prescription and the form of acquisition, assessing access to medication.

Urban disaster response requires disposal of complex wastes. This study regards a case wherein high intensity rainfall fell over a remote mountainous area previously burned by wildfire, generating debris flows that devastated a downstream town. Sanitary sewers and homes with septic systems were damaged, releasing human waste into the debris flow field.

Generation of an actagardine A variant library through saturation mutagenesis.

The lantibiotic actagardine A is nineteen amino acids in length and comprises three intertwined C-terminal methyllanthionine-bridged rings and an N-terminal lanthionine-bridged ring. Produced by the actinomycete Actinoplanes garbadinensis ATCC 31049, actagardine A demonstrates antibacterial activity against important Gram-positive pathogens. This activity combined with its ribosomal synthesis makes it an attractive target for the generation of lantibiotic variants with improved biological activity.
