Background And Purpose: Punctate White Matter Lesion (PWML) is common in neonates. Multi-parametric MR imaging with flexible design (MULTIPLEX, MTP) generates multiple contrasts requires only about 6 min for full-head coverage. This study aimed to evaluate the value of T1WI and aT1WI contrasts of MTP in detecting neonatal punctate white matter lesions.

The vaginal microbiota is proposed to be associated with reproductive health. Exposure to metals during pregnancy is a risk factor for premature rupture of membranes (PROM). PROM can lead to serious maternal complications, thus, identifying the cause and therapeutic targets for it is crucial.

Background: Gallstones are among the most common complications of hereditary spherocytosis (HS). In previous treatments, gallbladder-preserving cholelithotomy (GPC) has remained a subject of significant debate due primarily to potential risks of stone recurrence. However, past studies have often overlooked the impact of specific disease conditions on GPC.

Article Synopsis
  • * Hydrochemical analysis and triaxial testing showed that prolonged immersion leads to an imbalance in solution acidity, increases ion concentration, and causes significant dissolution of carbonates and soluble minerals.
  • * The research found that these changes can lead to a dramatic decrease in soil cohesion by up to 86.1% and an increase in internal friction angle by 37.5%, highlighting the importance of understanding the implications for the stability of cemented calcareous soils in engineering.

This paper systematically investigates the dynamic mechanical response and fragment characteristics of sandstone with asymmetrical conjugate fissures subjected to preexisting static stress based on the split Hopkinson pressure bar apparatus. The cross-fissured sandstone exhibits significant variations in mechanical behavior when exposed to higher dynamic strain rates under identical static pre-stress. The cross-fissured sandstone with a higher dynamic strain rate is characterized by a greater coupled strength under the same static pre-stress; for a given dynamic load, the highest coupled strength occurs under the static pre-stress of 60% UCS.

  • Pediatric rhabdomyosarcoma of the biliary tract (BRMS) is a very rare cancer, with a case involving a 2-year-old child initially misdiagnosed with gallstones.
  • The correct diagnosis was made using endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), leading to successful treatment with surgery and chemotherapy.
  • There's a need for increased awareness among clinicians about BRMS due to its vague early symptoms and diagnostic challenges in children, and ERCP is highlighted as the best diagnostic method.

The Baishi landslide was located in the western part of Beichuan County, Sichuan Province, China. The landslide experienced multiple minor collapses at the front part, accompanying with numerous tensile cracks. To comprehensively grasp the stability conditions and predict the moment of failure of the landslide, deformation monitoring of the landslide has been carried out from the moment that the landslide was reported until it failed.

Ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) results in irreversible metabolic dysfunction and structural damage to tissues or organs, posing a formidable challenge in the field of organ implantation, cardiothoracic surgery, and general surgery. Glycogen synthase kinase-3β (GSK-3β) a multifunctional serine/threonine kinase, is involved in a variety of biological processes, including cell proliferation, apoptosis, and immune response. Phosphorylation of its tyrosine 216 and serine 9 sites positively and negatively regulates the activation and inactivation of the enzyme.

Imidazoline is an important scaffold in organic synthesis and a pharmacophore in medicinal chemistry. We apply basic imines as nucleophiles for the catalytic asymmetric chloroiminocyclization to furnish tetrasubstituted stereocenter-containing imidazolines in excellent yields and enantioselectivities. The reaction can be conducted in the polar solvent acetonitrile under concentrated reaction conditions.

The clinical effects of Schisandra chinensis against human disease are well-documented; however, studies on its application in controlling plant pathogens are limited. Here, we investigated its inhibitory effect on the growth of Alternaria alternata, a fungus which causes significant post-harvest losses on apples, known as black spot disease. S.

Background: The relationship between periodontitis and Alzheimer's disease (AD) has attracted more attention recently, whereas profiles of subgingival microbiomes and gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) metabolic signatures in AD patients have rarely been characterized; thus, little evidence exists to support the oral-brain axis hypothesis. Therefore, our study aimed to characterize both the microbial community of subgingival plaque and the metabolomic profiles of GCF in patients with AD and amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) for the first time.

Methods: This was a cross-sectional study.

In a previous study, we used metabolomic techniques to identify a new metabolite of Danshen Dripping Pills called isopropyl 3-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-2-hydroxypropanoate (IDHP), which has potential as a drug candidate for cardiovascular diseases. This study aimed to explore the protective effects of IDHP against septic myocardial injury, as well as its molecular mechanism. Wild type or GAS6 knockout mice injured by cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) were used to observe the effect of IDHP.

  • Lenalidomide is the primary drug for treating multiple myeloma, but its effectiveness varies widely among patients, with some worsening and others improving after treatment.
  • A study looked at 20 patients who received lenalidomide and analyzed their urine for metabolic compounds using advanced mass spectrometry techniques.
  • Eleven metabolites were identified, including two key compounds: Denitrified-2 glutarimide, linked to ineffective and stable patients, and 5-Hydroxy-lenalidomide, found only in effective patients.

Background: There have been no effective treatments for slowing or reversing Alzheimer's disease (AD) until now. Growing preclinical evidence, including this study, suggests that mesenchymal stem cells-secreted exosomes (MSCs-Exos) have the potential to cure AD.

Aims: The first three-arm, drug-intervention, phase I/II clinical trial was conducted to explore the safety and efficacy of allogenic human adipose MSCs-Exos (ahaMSCs-Exos) in patients with mild to moderate AD.

MLL/KMT2A amplifications and translocations are prevalent in infant, adult, and therapy-induced leukemia. However, the molecular contributor(s) to these alterations are unclear. Here, we demonstrate that histone H3 lysine 9 mono- and di-methylation (H3K9me1/2) balance at the MLL/KMT2A locus regulates these amplifications and rearrangements.

Recently, to easily extend the helical field-of-view (FOV), the segmented helical computed tomography (SHCT) method was proposed, as well as the corresponding generalized backprojection filtration (G-BPF) type algorithm. Similar to the geometric relationship between helical and circular CT, SHCT just becomes full-scan multiple source-translation CT (F-mSTCT) when the pitch is zero and the number of scan cycles is one. The strategy of G-BPF follows the idea of the generalized Feldkamp approximate cone-beam algorithm for helical CT, i.

Identified as the pathogenic genes of Alzheimer's disease (AD), , , mainly lead to early-onset AD, whose course is more aggressive, and atypical symptoms are more common than sporadic AD. Here, a novel missense mutation, E674Q (also named "Shanghai "), was detected in a Chinese index patient with typical late-onset AD (LOAD) who developed memory decline in his mid-70s. The results from neuroimaging were consistent with AD, where widespread amyloid β deposition was demonstrated in F-florbetapir Positron Emission Tomography (PET).

Background: Fibroblasts (FBs) have been widely used as a typical in vitro cell model for investigating the biological processes and cell pathophysiological mechanisms. However, FBs are prone to senescence in cell culture process after several passages. Thus, a new approach to cell culture is quite required to enhance the viability of cells.
