The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is one of the largest organelles, and Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress Response Pathway is a series of responses triggered by the homeostatic imbalance of the ER and the state in which unfolded or misfolded proteins accumulate in the ER, which can trigger cell death. Cell death plays a crucial role in the development of diseases such as gynecological oncology. Herein, we review the current research on the response and ovarian cancer, discussing the key sensors (IRE1, PERK, ATF6), and the conditions under which it occurs (Ca homeostasis disruption, hypoxia, others).

Sulfasalazine (SASP) is widely used as a first-line clinical treatment for UC. Traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine have their own advantages in the treatment of UC, and the mechanism of YHKJ combined with SASP in the treatment of UC needs to be investigated.

Background: Diarrhea is a leading cause of death in young children worldwide. Vitamin D deficiency impairs the body's ability to clear pathogens, reduces tight junction protein expression in intestinal epithelial cells, and enhances Th1-mediated intestinal inflammation. This study aimed to investigate the effects of serum vitamin D levels on acute invasive enteritis in children.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTitanium has been widely employed in the fields of orthopaedics and dentistry, attributed to its superior mechanical and biological properties. The mechanical stimulation induced by the titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanotubes (TNTs) morphology resulting from surface modification has been demonstrated to enhance the osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs). Kindlin-2, a pivotal focal adhesion protein, is involved in mechanical signaling processes through the regulation of stress fibril filament assembly.

The P2X7 receptor (P2X7R) plays a key role in CKD progression. Our previous P2X7R antagonists demonstrated good efficacy for treating kidney injury but were limited by low oral exposure and short half-life, restricting their application.

Intraspinal air is a rare complication of intraspinal anesthesia. Reported cases of intraspinal or intracranial air are mostly associated with the air insufflation resistance test, while those associated with the normal saline resistance test are rare. This article presents a case of intracranial air following intraspinal anesthesia performed using the normal saline resistance method.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFLong non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have emerged as significant contributors to the regulation of various biological processes, and their dysregulation has been linked to a variety of human disorders. Accurate prediction of potential correlations between lncRNAs and diseases is crucial for advancing disease diagnostics and treatment procedures. The authors introduced a novel computational method, iGATTLDA, for the prediction of lncRNA-disease associations.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFNoncoding RNAs (ncRNAs) constitute a class of nucleic acid molecules within cells that do not encode proteins but play important roles in regulating gene expression, maintaining cellular homeostasis, and mediating cell signaling. This class encompasses microRNAs (miRNAs), long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs), transfer RNAs (tRNAs), circular RNAs (circRNAs), small interfering RNAs (siRNAs), and others. miRNAs are pivotal in the regulation of gene expression in hematologic malignancies.

Methods: Germline variant classifications for 721 pediatric patients from an in-house panel were retrospectively evaluated using the 2 scoring systems.
Results: A total of 2376 unique variants were identified, with ∼23.
Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disorder whose etiology remains unknown. The immune system has been implicated in hallmarks of PD including aggregation of α-synuclein and death of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra. As a core regulator of immune response and inflammation, liver X receptors (LXRs) have been shown to have protective effects in a 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP)-induced mouse model of PD.

Methods: During 2012-2014, 145 adult NPC patients with stage II-IVb NPC were investigated weekly using the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire core 30 (EORCT QLQ-C30) during their CCRT period. The effects of longitudinal trends of HRQOL on survival outcomes were estimated using joint modeling, and hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) were reported as a 10-point increase in HRQOL scores.

But it is far from clear whether and how social support decreases the LH in cancer patients. The purpose of present study is to detect the association between social support and LH and the role of individual resilience and self-efficacy in mediating this relationship.

Considering the large demand for electricity in the era of artificial intelligence and big data, there is an urgent need to explore novel energy storage media with higher energy density and intelligent temperature self-check functions. High-entropy (HE) ceramic capacitors are of great significance because of their excellent energy storage efficiency and high power density (P). However, the contradiction between configurational entropy and polarization in traditional HE systems greatly restrains the increase in energy storage density.
