CXXC type zinc finger protein 5 (CXXC5) is a member of the ZF-CXXC family and plays a pivotal role in signal integration and information transfer within cell signaling network. CXXC5 acts as a regulator in various physiological processes, and abnormalities in its protein structure or function have been linked to multiple pathological processes. In this article, we correspondingly describe the composition of the ZF-CXXC family, emphatically introducing the features of the CXXC5 gene and protein, review the role of CXXC5 in cellular signaling networks, the physiological and pathological processes associated with CXXC5 dysregulation, and particularly focus on the correlation between CXXC5 and cancers.

Seepage experiences were conducted on coal samples with diverse levels of moisture content, gas pressure, and effective stress to investigate how gas seepage in a coal seam is affected by the interaction of gas, water, and stress. The results of the study revealed the intricate relationship between these factors and their impact on the permeability and seepage behavior of coal. The findings indicate that, with increasing gas pressure, the permeability of coal specimens containing different levels of moisture varies distinctly.

Urban rail transit systems, represented by subways, have significantly alleviated the traffic pressure brought by urbanization and have addressed issues such as traffic congestion. We experimentally investigated the asymmetric dual-grating-gate plasmonic terahertz (THz) detector based on an InGaAs-channel high-electron-mobility transistor (HEMT) in the gate-readout configuration. Throughout the THz pulse detection measurement on the fabricated device, we discovered a new detection mechanism called the "3D rectification effect" at the positive gate bias application, which is a cooperative effect of the plasmonic nonlinearities in the channel with the diode nonlinearity in the heterobarrier between the InGaAs channel layer and the InAlAs spacer/carrier-supply/barrier layers, resulting in a giant enhancement of the detector responsivity. We also found that an undesired long-tail waveform observed on the temporal pulse photoresponse of the device is due to trapping of carriers to the donor levels in the silicon -doped carrier-supply layer when they tunnel through the barrier to the gate and can be eliminated completely by introducing the so-called inverted-HEMT structure.

Electronic perturbation of the surfaces of Cu catalysts is crucial for optimizing electrochemical CO reduction activity, yet still poses great challenges. Herein, nanostructured Cu nanowires (NW) with fine-tuned surface electronic structure are achieved via surface encapsulation with electron-withdrawing (-F) and -donating (-Me) group-functionalized graphdiynes (R-GDY, R = -F and -Me) and the resulting catalysts, denoted as R-GDY/Cu NW, display distinct CO reduction performances. electrochemical spectroscopy revealed that the *CO (a key intermediate of the CO reduction reaction) binding affinity and consequent *CO coverage positively correlate with the Cu surface oxidation state, leading to favorable C-C coupling on F-GDY/Cu NW over Me-GDY/Cu NW.

Carbenes are highly reactive intermediates central to various organic transformations, particularly within photochemistry. This study investigates siloxy carbenes generated from acyl silanes a 1,2-silyl shift, focusing on their generation and reactivity in excited states, using the multiconfiguration perturbation theory (CASPT2//CASSCF/PCM). Our findings reveal that the presence of an aryl group conjugated with the carbonyl moiety substantially lowers the excitation energy of the singlet nπ* state, enabling the 1,2-Brook rearrangement to proceed directly on the singlet hypersurface.
