Unlabelled: Data about the long-term safety and efficacy of stent implantation for central venous stenosis in patients on dialysis are limited. We report the case of a 66-year-old man on hemodialysis for end-stage renal disease who presented with stasis dermatitis around an arteriovenous shunt with ulceration of the left forearm. Computed tomography angiography showed a tight stenosis of the proximal left subclavian vein and the development of collateral blood vessels around the stenosis.

Cytokines play an important role in the pathogenesis of UC, and therapies targeting specific cytokines have been successful in treating refractory UC. The purpose of this study was to measure mucosal cytokines in UC and identify those that contribute to non-relapsing mucosal healing diagnosed by endoscopy.

However, the normal pressure extubation technique has not been adequately evaluated. This study compared postoperative pneumonia incidence between positive and normal pressure extubation techniques using a dataset from the University of Tsukuba Hospital.

Methods: A web-based questionnaire with a draft scale, the Nighttime Collaboration Difficulties between Nurses and Physicians for Nurses (NCDNP-N), was distributed to nurses working night shifts in acute-care hospitals across Japan. Data were collected between July and October 2023.
Aim: To explore patients' process of living with chronic liver disease while continuing regular healthcare visits for hepatocellular carcinoma surveillance.
Methods: Semistructured interviews and participant observations were conducted in this qualitative constructivist grounded theory study. The participants included 11 patients undergoing regular hepatocellular carcinoma surveillance every 1-6 months for 2-30 years.
Abnormal α-synuclein (αSyn), including an oligomeric form of αSyn, accumulates and causes neuronal dysfunction in the brains of patients with multiple system atrophy. Neuroprotective drugs that target abnormal αSyn aggregation have not been developed for the treatment of multiple system atrophy. In addition, treating diseases at an early stage is crucial to halting the progress of neuronal damage in neurodegeneration.

However, there had been no way to assess the problem. This study aimed to develop a scale for physicians to measure difficulties in nighttime collaboration with nurses in response to deteriorating inpatients and to identify factors associated with the developed scale scores.

The goal of our support for patients is to ease their difficulties and improve their belief in their capacity to self-manage their disease (self-efficacy), by increasing their ability for self-care. The nurse's contribution is vital in empowering patients and supporting them to better manage their disease.

We aimed to develop and validate a substantially shorter version of this scale to reduce patients' response burden.
Methods: A total of 919 patients with IBD, 482 recruited from an IBD clinic and 437 recruited online, completed the Japanese version of the original, 29-item IBD-SES.
Introduction: The incidence of steatotic liver disease has increased in recent years. Thus, steatotic liver disease is a major public health issue in Japan. This study investigated the association between weight reduction and the remission of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD)/Metabolic and alcohol related/associated liver disease (MetALD) in Japanese individuals undergoing health checkups.

However, its success is marred by its inferior bone union rate of the coracoid process as compared to the Latarjet procedure. This study aimed to evaluate whether arthroscopic confirmation of the secured coracoid fixation during the Bristow procedure improves the bone union rate and clinical outcomes as compared to the open procedure.

However, few reports exist concerning specific and comprehensive nursing practices for them. This study aimed to clarify nursing practices for patients with death rattle and their families in hospital wards and examine each practice's importance.

However, perceptions of diet in remission may have changed from the era when treatment options were limited. Therefore, we compared the dietary perceptions and treatment of patients with CD in remission with previously published data from the time biologic therapy was not introduced.

The frequency of this syndrome is increasing as more elderly patients undergo major surgery. The frequency is around 10-25% but reaches as high as 50% for cardiac surgery.

This study aimed to compare the prevalence and reasons for cancellation of pediatric surgeries in Japan before and during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Methods: This single-center retrospective cohort study reviewed the reasons for surgery cancellations scheduled for patients aged <18 years between the prepandemic period (September 2017-December 2019) and the COVID-19 pandemic period (January 2020-April 2022).
Background: Heart failure (HF) patients have high readmission rates and require continuous adherence to HF self-care. Lack of knowledge about HF has been identified as a factor that contributes to poor adherence.
Objectives: To clarify and organise existing data about measurement tools used to assess pre-discharge knowledge of hospitalised HF patients, the content and level of pre-discharge knowledge, factors associated with the level of knowledge, and the effect of knowledge levels on patients' outcomes.
Unlabelled: We report a case of a 54-year-old man with atrial septal defect who presented with oxygen desaturation on pulse oximetry. Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging and transesophageal echocardiography showed right-to-left shunting through an atrial septal defect, which was confirmed by superior vena cavography and suggested Eisenmenger syndrome. However, cardiac catheterization revealed a normal pulmonary arterial pressure.

Case Presentation: A 77-year-old male was diagnosed with right papillary renal cell carcinoma with a metastatic lesion on Gerota's fascia, lymph node metastasis, and inferior vena cava tumor thrombus. He was treated with nivolumab plus cabozantinib.
