In the nervous system, proteasomes are important for proteolysis and cellular homeostasis of neurons and glial cells and for brain health. Proteasome function declines with age in many tissues, including the nervous system, and this decline affects many of the nervous system processes important to brain health and may be related to age-related cognitive decline. Therefore, we analyzed the factors that contribute to this decline in function using the brain of mice from different months of life.

Objective: We attempted to clarify the causes of curved hair that appeared to have occurred via acquired factors.
Methods: Outer root sheath cells (ORSC) isolated from plucked human hair follicles were used to evaluate the expression of type IV collagen.
(1) Background: It is our purpose to identify the differences in the changes in Complement C5a receptor 1 (C5aR1) levels showing the degree of inflammation at onset and Immunoglobulin G (IgG) levels showing the extent of survival of the virus fragments after recovery between coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and pneumonia coronavirus disease (non-COVID-19) for saving patients' lives. (2) Methods: First, the studies showing these markers' levels in individual patients before and after the passage of time were selected from the PubMed Central databases with the keywords (((COVID-19) AND individual) NOT review) AND C5a/IgG. Then, no changes in these markers' levels with conventional analyses were selected from the studies.

The present study assessed the knowledge and behavior of preconception care among women to seek effective intervention. Our research questions were: 1) How much do women know about preconception care? 2) How much are they practicing preconception care and what are the information sources of their behavior? 3) Do the women's preconception care behavior associated with accurate knowledge?
Methods: The research was conducted in a rural town in central Japan.
In Japan, a new medical specialist system started in 2018 and has established the "Comprehensive Medical Specialist" program. The Japan Medical Agency allows specially-appointed supervisors, such as specialists in particular branches of internal medicine, to transfer to the "general practitioner" program. These specialists are often considered as reserve general practitioners.

This skin-mediated invasion and sensitization to allergens is involved in skin barrier breakdown and inflammation, followed by the production of several kinds of cytokines. Cytokines such as thymic stromal lymphopoietin and thymus and activation-regulated chemokine are also involved.

Background: The global point prevalence survey (Global-PPS) is the standard for the surveillance of prescribed antimicrobials among inpatients and provides data for the development of hospital antimicrobial stewardship programs.
Aim: To evaluate the prevalence and quality of antimicrobial prescriptions using the universally standardized Global-PPS protocol in a non-acute care hospital in Saitama Prefecture, Japan.
Methods: Antimicrobial prescriptions for inpatients, staying at the hospital overnight, were surveyed on three separate week days in November 2018, January 2019, and May 2019.
Recently, we have begun to better understand the regulatory mechanisms of proteasome activity in response to the nutritional state. In this study, we analyzed the expression and function of proteasomes in the livers and brains where changes in the metabolic system occur in vivo during short-term starvation. In the livers of 4-week-old mice, proteasome activity decreased with fasting time, whereas brain proteasome activity remained unchanged by up to 24 h of fasting and then decreased.

We investigated the time-outcome relationships in different age subgroups. Of 2420 patients enrolled in the RESCUE-Japan Registry 2 study, a study based on a prospective registry of stroke patients with acute cerebral large-vessel occlusion at 46 centers, we analyzed the data of 1010 patients with successful reperfusion after endovascular therapy (mTICI of 2b or 3).

The association between blood pressure levels and the risk of recurrent stroke during long-term secondary stroke prevention with thienopyridines (particularly prasugrel) has not been well studied.
Methods: This was a post hoc analysis of the randomized, double-blind, multicenter PRASTRO-I trial (Comparison of Prasugrel and Clopidogrel in Japanese Patients With Ischemic Stroke-I).
Background And Purpose: A transient ischemic attack (TIA) can occur without self-awareness of symptoms. We aimed to investigate characteristics of patients with a tissue-based diagnosis of TIA but having no self-awareness of their symptoms and whose symptoms were witnessed by bystanders.
Methods: We used data from the multicenter registry of 1414 patients with a clinical diagnosis of TIA.
Abstract: As food waste has become a major problem in recent years, measures against food loss have become an urgent issue. When manufacturing or making green tea beverages, large quantities of tea leaves are subsequently disposed of, which results in potential food loss. Moreover, because many of the tea components remain in the used tea leaves, these continue to have value, as these leaves exhibit antibacterial action.

A post-hoc analysis of a registry of large-vessel occlusion stroke from 46 centers was conducted. Among 2,420 registered patients, 725 patients with anterior circulation occlusion who achieved successful reperfusion were analyzed.

Baseline event risks were obtained from the J-ROCKET AF trial and the treatment effect data were taken from a network meta-analysis. The other model inputs were extracted from the literature and official Japanese sources.

X-ray magnetic linear dichroism photoemission electron microscopy measurements reveal that the AFM spins of the SmFeO(1 1 0) align in the plane of the film. Angularly dependent magnetoresistance measurements show that SmFeO/Ta bilayers exhibit a positive SMR, in contrast to the negative SMR expected in previously studied collinear AFMs.

This trial excluded patients with prior stroke; therefore, the ideal BP target for secondary stroke prevention remains unknown.
Objective: To assess whether intensive BP control would achieve fewer recurrent strokes vs standard BP control.
Postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS) can cause orthostatic headache. However, it is difficult to differentiate POTS from spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH) caused by cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks. We herein report a 53-year-old woman who presented with SIH associated with POTS.

We investigated the non-inferiority of prasugrel to clopidogrel for prevention of ischaemic stroke, myocardial infarction, and death from other vascular causes in Japanese patients with non-cardioembolic stroke.
Methods: In this phase 3 randomised, double-blind, non-inferiority trial, patients aged 20-74 years who had had a non-cardioembolic stroke in the previous 1-26 weeks were recruited from 224 hospitals in Japan.

Aim: As the number of aged stroke patients increases in Japan, the proportion of older patients who receive recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rt-PA, 0.6 mg/kg) is also rising. However, the Japanese stroke guideline indicates that rt-PA therapy must be administered very carefully in older patients (i.
