In this study, we investigated the factors that influence families' decision-making processes about whether to carry a pregnancy to term or to terminate it in cases of fetal anomalies. A questionnaire was administered to 25 participants who chose to terminate their pregnancy and 25 participants who chose to carry their pregnancy to term. Among the sociodemographic characteristics investigated, only monthly income significantly differed between the groups ( = .

Introduction: There exists a prevailing concern regarding the heightened susceptibility of women with a solitary kidney to unfavorable consequences during pregnancy. Irrespective of the underlying etiology, individuals with a solitary kidney are advised to have regular annual screenings for blood pressure and urinalysis due to their increased susceptibility to developing proteinuria, hypertension, and renal failure.

Objective: To investigate the risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes in women with a maternal solitary kidney by comparing maternal and fetal outcomes to those of healthy pregnant women.

Article Synopsis
  • - A study was conducted on 240 pregnant women (120 with pregestational diabetes) to examine changes in systemic inflammatory indices and APRI scores during pregnancy, and their association with perinatal outcomes.
  • - Results indicated significant alterations in inflammatory markers across trimesters, with notable cut-off values identified for predicting low birth weight and preterm delivery based on certain indices.
  • - The findings suggest that monitoring the NLR in the first trimester and the APRI score in the last trimester could help predict perinatal outcomes in pregnancies complicated by pregestational diabetes.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the albumin-bilirubin score in diagnosing intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy, involving 413 participants divided into three groups: patients with intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy, those suspected of it, and healthy controls.* -
  • Results showed that the albumin-bilirubin score was significantly higher in patients with intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy compared to the other groups, and there was a weak positive correlation between the score and bile acid levels.* -
  • Receiver operating characteristic analysis demonstrated that the albumin-bilirubin score effectively predicts intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy, with a sensitivity of 69% and a specificity of 64%, resulting in a

Objectives: To evaluate the effect of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) on pregnancies and the role of the delta hemoglobin indices in the evaluation of treatment effectiveness.

Methods: This case-control study was conducted with 23 ITP and 115 low-risk pregnancies. Obstetric outcomes (fetal growth retardation (FGR), preterm delivery) and neonatal outcomes (weights, APGAR scores, NICU admissions, thrombocytopenia) were recorded.

Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate the ultrasonographic characteristics and outcomes of fetuses with atypical and non-visualized fetal gallbladder in our tertiary care hospital.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on cases in which the fetal gallbladder was not visualized or exhibited atypical characteristics at our institution over a four-year period. The patients were divided into two groups: absent gallbladder and atypical gallbladder.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to explore how the thickness of the lower uterine segment (LUS) relates to the timing of labor in women with dichorionic twin pregnancies experiencing preterm labor symptoms.
  • - It involved measuring LUS thickness and other cervical parameters in pregnant women between 24 and 32 weeks, and highlighted that thinner LUS correlates with earlier labor onset, specifically noting significant differences in thickness measurements between those giving birth before and after 34 weeks.
  • - The findings suggest that LUS thickness could be a useful predictor for identifying the risk of spontaneous preterm birth in this group of pregnancies.

Objectives: To investigate the fetal heart using pulsed wave Doppler, M-mode, and tissue Doppler imaging (TDI) in cases of intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP).

Methods: This prospective study was conducted at a single tertiary center and included 35 patients with ICP and 70 healthy pregnant women at 28-36 weeks of pregnancy. Among the patients with ICP, 26 had serum bile acid (SBA) levels less than 40 μmol/L and nine had SBA levels of 40 μmol/L or greater.

Purpose: This study aims to investigate the fetal Evans Index and establish a nomogram for fetuses without any additional fetal anomalies detected during the prenatal period.

Methods: We conducted our research at Ankara City Hospital, including 894 patients who were admitted and evaluated between gestational weeks 16-40. These patients had no fetal anomalies detected in subsequent gestational weeks.

Objective: To determine the value of the Aggregate index of systemic inflammation (AISI) in predicting admission to neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and chorioamnionitis.

Methods: The present retrospective cohort study with pregnant women who were diagnosed with preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM) in the Department of Perinatology, Ministry of Health Ankara City Hospital between January 1, 2021, and June 1, 2023 (n = 357). The patients were categorized into subgroups: (1) cases with (n = 27) or without (n = 330) chorioamnionitis, (2) admission (n = 182) or no admission (n = 175) to NICU; (3) gestational age at birth <28 weeks or 28 weeks or longer; and (4) gestational age at birth <34 weeks or 34 weeks or longer.

Objectives: To examine the role of the cerebro-placental-uterine ratio (CPUR) in predicting composite adverse perinatal outcomes (CAPO) in patients with pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH).

Study Design: This prospective, case-control study was conducted at a tertiary hospital with 110 cases of PIH, including 70 patients with preeclampsia and 40 with gestational hypertension, and 110 healthy controls. The middle cerebral artery pulsatility index (MCA-PI), umbilical artery pulsatility index (UA-PI), and uterine artery pulsatility index (UtA-PI) were measured, and the cerebro-placental ratio (CPR=MCA-PI/UA-PI) and CPUR (CPR/UtA-PI) were calculated.
