Federated Learning (FL) is an efficient, distributed machine learning paradigm that enables multiple clients to jointly train high-performance deep learning models while maintaining training data locally. However, due to its distributed computing nature, malicious clients can manipulate the prediction of the trained model through backdoor attacks. Existing defense methods require significant computational and communication overhead during the training or testing phases, limiting their practicality in resource-constrained scenarios and being unsuitable for the Non-IID data distribution typical in general FL scenarios.

The increasing use of plastic food containers, particularly for pre-cooked meals and takeout services, has raised concerns regarding the potential health risks associated with plastic leachates. This study investigated the impact of leachates from heat-treated polypropylene (PP) plastic food containers on glucose and lipid metabolism using both in vitro and in vivo models. AML12 hepatocytes exposed to leachates from three different PP plastic containers exhibited significant disruptions in the homeostasis of lipid and glucose metabolism, evidenced by increased intracellular lipid content and altered gene expression related to lipogenesis, lipid uptake, lipolysis, and fatty acid β-oxidation.

Inspired by our previous finding that targeting the 150-cavity with a multisite-binding strategy emerged as an effective approach to obtain more potent and selective neuraminidase (NA) inhibitors against influenza virus, we present here the design, synthesis, and optimization of novel boron-containing N-substituted oseltamivir (OSC) derivatives. Exploratory structure-activity relationship (SAR) studies led to the identification of compounds and as the most potent NA inhibitors, surpassing OSC in potency against both wild-type group-1 NAs and oseltamivir-resistant NAs. These compounds demonstrated significant antiviral activity against several wild-type strains and H1N1pdm09 strains (EC = 0.

Myelin, a lipid-enriched multi-layer membrane structure, allows for rapid long-distance saltatory conduction of neuronal impulses. Although glycolipids are the predominant types of lipids in the myelin bilayer, the role of glycolipid transfer protein (GLTP), which selectively mediates the transfer of various glycolipids between phospholipid bilayer, in myelin development and maintenance remains unknown at present. In this study, we identified Gltp as the key lipid metabolism gene in myelin-forming oligodendrocytes (OLs) through integrated omics analysis across independent transcriptomic and single-cell sequencing studies.

Mounting evidence suggests that circular RNAs play important roles in the development and progression of cancers. However, their function in glioblastomas (GBM) is still unclear. By circRNA array analysis, we found that circXPO1 (hsa_circ_102737) was significantly upregulated in GBM, and qPCR analysis verified that the circXPO1 expression level was increased in both GBM tissues and cell lines.

Background Salt restriction may lower blood pressure variability (BPV), but previous studies have shown inconsistent results. Therefore, we investigated in an observational study and intervention trial whether urinary sodium excretion and salt intake are associated with 24-hour BPV. Methods and Results We used data from the cross-sectional population-based Maastricht Study (n=2652; 60±8 years; 52% men) and from a randomized crossover trial (n=40; 49±11 years; 33% men).

Objective: Low baroreflex sensitivity (BRS) has been hypothesized to underlie high blood pressure (BP) and greater BP variability on the longer term, but evidence is scarce. In addition, these associations may differ by sex and (pre)diabetes. Therefore, we investigated whether cardiovagal BRS is associated with short- to mid-term mean BP and BP variability, and differs according to sex and (pre)diabetes.

As the typical application of computational intelligence in software engineering, cross-project defect prediction (CPDP) uses labeled data from other projects (source projects) for building models to predict the defects in the current projects (target projects), helping testers quickly locate the defective modules. But class imbalance and different data distribution among projects make CPDP a challenging topic. To address the above two problems, we propose a two-phase feature importance amplification (TFIA) CPDP model in this paper which can solve these two problems from domain adaptation phase and classification phase.

Glioma is the most common type of tumor in the central nervous system, accounting for around 80% of all malignant brain tumors. Previous studies showed a significant association between nuclear morphology and the malignant progress of gliomas. By virtue of integrated proteomics and genomics analyses as well as experimental validations, we identify three nuclear lamin genes (LMNA, LMNB1, and LMNB2) that are significantly upregulated in glioma tissues compared with normal brain tissues.

Objective: Low heart rate variability (HRV), a marker for cardiac autonomic dysfunction, is a known feature of type 2 diabetes, but it remains incompletely understood whether this also applies to prediabetes or across the whole glycemic spectrum. Therefore, we investigated the association among prediabetes, type 2 diabetes, and measures of glycemia and HRV.

Research Design And Methods: In the population-based Maastricht Study ( = 2,107; mean ± SD age 59 ± 8 years; 52% men; normal glucose metabolism [ = 1,226], prediabetes [ = 331], and type 2 diabetes [ = 550, oversampled]), we determined 24-h electrocardiogram-derived HRV in time and frequency domains (individual -scores, based upon seven and six variables, respectively).

An increasing number of individuals will face age-related cognitive difficulties because life expectancy has increased. It is, therefore, important to identify modifiable risk factors for cognitive impairment. Very short-term to mid-term blood pressure variability (BPV) may be such a factor because it may cause cerebral ischemia.
