Refractory or relapsed T cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (r/r T-ALL) patients have poor prognoses, due to the lack of effective salvage therapies. Recently, CD7-targeting chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T therapies show efficacy in patients with r/r T-ALL, but relapse with CD7 loss is common. This study evaluates a CD5-gene-edited CAR-T cell therapy targeting CD5 in 19 r/r T-ALL patients, most of whom had previously failed CD7 CAR-T interventions.

  • Gastric submucosal arterial dilation from splenic artery occlusion can lead to rare but severe acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB), with limitations in detection by endoscopy.
  • A case involving a 57-year-old male revealed massive UGIB linked to a tortuous left inferior phrenic artery, previously noted "gastric varices," and subsequent endoscopic failure that required transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE) for treatment.
  • This case is the first to identify UGIB from a tortuous left inferior phrenic artery and underscores the need for alternative methods like TAE to manage arterial bleeding when endoscopy is inadequate.

This study aimed to investigate the effects of Shuanglongjiegu pill (SLJGP) on the osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) and explore its mechanism based on miR-217/RUNX2 axis. Results found that drug-containing serum of SLJGP promoted BMSCs viability with a dose-dependent effect. Under osteogenic differentiation conditions, SLJGP promoted the expression of ALP, OPN, BMP2, RUNX2, and the osteogenic differentiation ability of BMSCs.

The hypersecretion of cytokines triggers life-threatening systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS), leading to multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) and mortality. Although both coagulopathy and necroptosis have been identified as important factors in the pathogenesis of SIRS, the specific cell types that undergo necroptosis and the interrelationships between coagulopathy and necroptosis remain unclear. In this study, we utilized visualization analysis via intravital microscopy to demonstrate that both anticoagulant heparin and nonanticoagulant heparin (NAH) pretreatment protect mice against TNF-α-induced mortality in SIRS.

Spermiogenesis, the complex transformation of haploid spermatids into mature spermatozoa, relies on precise spatiotemporal regulation of gene expression at the post-transcriptional level. The mechanisms underlying this critical process remain incompletely understood. Here, we identify centrosomal protein 112 (CEP112) as an essential regulator of mRNA translation during this critical developmental process.

Gender roles and expectations for women have been shown to account for why women tend to negotiate ineffectively in business settings. Drawing from the psychological literature on multiple identities, this paper examines how individual differences in perceived compatibility between gender and professional identities-captured by the construct Gender-Professional Identity Integration (G-PII)-shape businesswomen's negotiation behaviors. Two studies examined how G-PII interacts with identity cues and cue valence to influence negotiation outcomes.

Disruption of ciliary homeostasis in vascular endothelial cells has been implicated in the development of atherosclerosis. However, the molecular basis for the regulation of endothelial cilia during atherosclerosis remains poorly understood. Herein, we provide evidence in male mice that the accumulation of lipid droplets in vascular endothelial cells induces ciliary loss and contributes to atherosclerosis.
