As an indispensable trace element in the human body, copper plays an important role in various physiological and biochemical reactions. The dyshomeostasis of copper leads to the disorder of copper metabolism and the occurrence of related diseases.Cuproptosis,a newly proposed regulatory cell death mode,is different from the known apoptosis, pyroptosis, necroptosis, and ferroptosis.

Due to its atypical symptoms and the absence of specific detection methods, Q fever is underdiagnosed commonly. Herein, we report a case of Q fever confirmed by metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) in March 2024 in Guangdong Province, China.

However, systematic studies of the impact of shale mineral composition on hydraulic fracturing remain limited. This research investigates the effects of fracturing fluids on reservoirs with different mineral compositions, focusing on the Wufeng-Longmaxi shale in northern Guizhou, China.

However, the core molecular mechanisms remain elusive. Ferroptosis, a form of programmed cell death linked to iron dysregulation and oxidative stress, contributes to neurodegeneration in AD in part by accelerating amyloid-β deposition and neurofibrillary tangle formation.

We aimed to analyze the epidemiological characteristics of dengue in Guangdong Province, China, and to investigate the temporal shifts in dengue epidemic in Guangdong Province during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Methods: Based on the data of dengue reported cases, meteorological factors, and mosquito vector density in Guangdong Province from 2012 to 2022, wavelet analysis was applied to investigate the relationship between the dengue incidence in Southeast Asian (SEA) countries and the local dengue incidence in Guangdong Province.
Corrosion of soft magnetic materials during service can significantly impact their performance and service life, therefore it is important to improve their corrosion resistance. In this paper, the corrosion resistance, alternating current soft magnetic properties (AC SMPs) and microstructure of FeCoNiAl ( = 1.0-2.

Human hair follicle mesenchymal stem cells (hHFMSCs) can be reprogrammed to generate intermediate stem cells by transducing OCT4 (hHFMSCs) and pre-inducing with FLT3LG/SCF, and differentiated into erythrocytes. These intermediate cells exhibit gene expression patterns similar to pre-HSCs, making them promising for artificial haematopoiesis.

Ferroptosis is a form of regulated cell death that depends on iron and reactive oxygen species.Different from apoptosis, necrosis, and autophagy, ferroptosis is characterized by the accumulation of lipid peroxides in cells.Studies have discovered that ferroptosis is closely associated with the occurrence and development of tumors and inducing ferroptosis in tumor cells can enhance the therapeutic effects of drugs on tumors.

Methods: A nationwide survey was conducted from November 2023 to March 2024 across tertiary and secondary pediatric and general hospitals in China. The survey targeted physicians with at least three years of specialty experience, resulting in 310 valid responses from 25 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities.
Objectives: In recent years, the distinct clinical presentations and elevated mortality rates of various subtypes of juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) with pulmonary involvement have garnered significant attention. This study aimed to elucidate the clinical characteristics of pulmonary involvement in patients with JIA to improve clinicians' knowledge.
Methods: This single-centre retrospective study analysed the baseline data, treatment options, follow-up of sixty patients of JIA with pulmonary involvement in China.
Intestinal microecology (IM) is the largest and most important microecological system of the human body. Furthermore, it is the key factor for activating and maintaining the physiological functions of the intestine. Numerous studies have investigated the effects of the gut microbiota on the different tissues and organs of the human body as well as their association with various diseases, and the findings are gradually being translated into clinical practice.

Sirt2 and sirt4 are lipoamidases that remove the lipoyl moiety from lipoylated proteins using nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) as a cofactor. However, to date, it is not clear whether nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN), a precursor of NAD, affects cellular sensitivity to cuproptosis.

Background: The epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) of human bronchial epithelial cells (HBECs) is essential for airway remodeling during asthma. Wnt5a has been implicated in various lung diseases, while its role in the EMT of HBECs during asthma is yet to be determined. This study sought to define whether Wnt5a initiated EMT, leading to airway remodeling through the induction of autophagy in HBECs.

Here, we use as the research model to investigate the proteomic change upon oxytetracycline resistance (LTB4-R). Compared to oxytetracycline-sensitive (LTB4-S), LTB4-R has 234 differentially expressed proteins, of which the abundance of 84 proteins is downregulated and 15 proteins are enriched to the Type III secretion system, Type VI secretion system, and flagellum pathways.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTwo-dimensional (2D) Ruddlesden-Popper perovskites (RPPs) are a class of quantum well (QW) materials showing large exciton binding energy owing to quantum confinement. The existence of localized edge states was proposed to accelerate exciton dissociation into long-lived charge carriers in 2D RPPs, but recent experimental reports suggested that highly efficient internal exciton dissociation is achievable in 2D RPPs despite the absence of edge states. Herein, we adopt first-principles calculations to unveil the physical origin of the high internal quantum efficiency in the bulk region of widely familiar (BA)(MA)PbI (BA = butylammonium; MA = methylammonium) materials.
