Brain microvascular endothelial cells (BMECs) constitute the structural and functional basis for the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and play essential roles in bacterial meningitis. Although the BBB integrity regulation has been under extensive investigation, there is little knowledge regarding the roles of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in this event. The present study aimed to investigate the roles of one potential lncRNA, , in meningitic infection of BMECs.

Many MI survivors will suffer from recurrent heart failure (HF), which has been recognized as a determinant of adverse prognosis. Despite the success of improved early survival after MI by primary percutaneous coronary intervention, HF after MI is becoming the major driver of late morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs.

However, each of these techniques by itself suffers from many challenges associated with the simultaneous achievement of color intensification and high stability of anthocyanins. Integrating copigmentation and encapsulation may overcome the limitation of usage of a single technique.

Recently, there has been an interest in improving the healthiness, sustainability, and safety of foods in an attempt to address some of the negative effects associated with the modern food supply, such as rising chronic diseases, environmental damage, and food safety concerns. Advanced emulsion technologies can be used to address many of these concerns.

The aims of this study were to evaluate the relationship between intraprocedural arrhythmia termination and the long-term outcomes of hybrid ablation in patients with long-standing persistent AF.
Methods: From May 2015 through April 2019, 50 patients with persistent AF with a mean duration of 73.
The elevation of intraocular pressure (IOP) is an important risk factor in the development of primary open angle glaucoma (POAG), which is the main cause of irreversible vision loss. miRNAs are promising new anti-glaucoma therapeutic agents. However, the low stability and cellular transfection of miRNA in vivo hinder its further application.

Shear viscosity of HIPEs increased with respect to XG concentration due to the formation of hydrogen bonds between PP and XG. Confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) imaging showed fairly even distribution and polygonal shapes of oil droplets (30-70 μm).

Anthocyanins were preloaded in hollow yeast capsules, and then the dual coating was performed by deposition of opposite charged polysaccharides using layer-by-layer technique. The combination of positively charged chitosan and negatively charged chondroitin sulfate was found to confer the yeast capsules with the highest encapsulation efficiency and retention rate of anthocyanins.

We aimed to investigate the immediate electrophysiological characteristics following modified ablation with 3 circular and 3 linear lesions in the thoracoscopic procedure via a unilateral approach.
Methods: Between May 2015 and October 2018, 40 patients underwent the one-stage hybrid procedure for LsPAF.
Aims: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a preventable cause of ischaemic stroke but it is often undiagnosed and undertreated. The utility of smartphone electrocardiogram (ECG) for the detection of AF after ischaemic stroke is unknown. The aim of this study is to determine the diagnostic yield of 30-day smartphone ECG recording compared with 24-h Holter monitoring for detecting AF ≥30 s.

In this work, we developed an encapsulation system that can protect hydrophilic ingredients using polyelectrolyte complexes prepared with chitosan and alginate via water-in-oil (W/O) emulsion. Unlike the traditional preparation of hydrogel beads, in which one material was added dropwise to another that had an opposite charge, we prepared microcapsules by electrostatic interaction between the positively charged -NH groups of chitosan and the negatively charged -COO groups of alginate by W/O emulsion via ultrasonication, which prevented the formation of large complexes.
