Expression of the dnmt3 genes in zebrafish development: similarity to Dnmt3a and Dnmt3b.

The zebrafish differs from mammals in that they have six dnmt3 genes as opposed to the two that can produce a catalytically active protein in mammals. Zebrafish also do not show evidence of genomic imprinting and lack the Dnmt3l gene necessary to that process in mammals. Prospective comparison of tuberculin skin test and QuantiFERON-TB Gold In-Tube assay for the detection of latent tuberculosis infection among healthcare workers in a low-incidence setting.

We compared the results of the tuberculin skin test with the results of the QuantiFERON-TB Gold In-Tube (QFT-GIT) assay among 182 low-risk healthcare workers. Overall agreement and specificity were high, but the tests did not agree on positive results. Only 2 of 5 positive QFT-GIT assay results could be confirmed with repeat analyses.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a telephone support group program on spouses and adult child caregivers of frail older adults.

Design And Methods: The Telephone Support Group (TSG) model is a multicomponent group program offered in 12 weekly, 90-minute group sessions. It includes emotion-focused and problem-focused coping strategies, education, and support.

Effects of a program for coordinated care of advanced illness on patients, surrogates, and healthcare costs: a randomized trial.

Objective: To evaluate the Advanced Illness Coordinated Care Program (AICCP), delivered by allied health personnel to improve care for patients coping with advanced illness and in need of preparation for end-of-life (EOL) care.

Study Design: Clinical trial involving 275 patients and 143 surrogates in 6 settings who were randomly assigned to the AICCP or usual care (UC).

Methods: The AICCP participants met with a care coordinator for assistance with provider communication, care coordination, and support.

Sensitization rates for many allergens have increased since then. In this rural population, we describe the current prevalence of sensitization to commonly found insects.
