Purpose: To describe the incidence of pregnancy associated hypertension and eclampsia from adolescence through the fifth decade of life, including the effect of parity and race, in the United States.

Methods: Data were evaluated from the National Center for Health Statistics (vital statistics section). The data were stratified by maternal age group, parity (G1, first pregnancy; G2+, second or higher pregnancy), and racial group.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of a multidisciplinary diabetes self-management program. The study focused on improving diabetes control by synchronizing regularly scheduled provider visits with a multidisciplinary diabetes education program. This intervention was instituted in Hispanic patients with long-standing poorly controlled type 2 diabetes.

Background: Insulin resistance is a metabolic spectrum that progresses from hyperinsulinemia to the metabolic syndrome, impaired glucose tolerance, and finally type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is unclear when vascular abnormalities begin in this spectrum of metabolic effects.
