Purpose: This work aims to review the principles of optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA), to survey its clinical utility, and to highlight the strengths of this technology as well as barriers to adoption.
Methods: A literature review with editorial discussion of the current applications for OCTA is presented.
Results: There have been recent advances in multiple domains in OCTA imaging, including devices, algorithms, and new observations pertaining to a range of pathologies.
Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is a leading cause of childhood blindness that occurs due to incomplete development of retinal blood vessels in preterm infants. Glaucoma is an ocular comorbidity in some patients with ROP, and it may be associated with immature anterior chamber development, ROP itself, or the treatment for ROP. There have been a few reports of narrow-angle glaucoma after laser treatment for ROP.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Keratitis-ichthyosis-deafness (KID) syndrome is characterized by a congenital triad of keratitis, ichthyosis, and deafness, and is most commonly associated with mutations in the gap junction protein beta 2 gene (GJB2) on chromosome 13q11-q12.
Methods: Multimodal anterior segment imaging and genetic testing were used to supplement clinical examination findings in the diagnosis and management of a 12-year-old boy with suspected KID syndrome.
Results: The patient presented with hearing loss, ichthyosis of the face and extremities, and corneal scarring and keratinization.
