Thermoresponsive keratin-methylcellulose self-healing injectable hydrogel accelerating full-thickness wound healing by promoting rapid epithelialization.

Chronic wounds suffer from impaired healing due to microbial attack and poor vascular growth. Thermoresponsive hydrogels gained attention in wound dressing owing to their gelation at physiological temperature enabling them to take the shape of asymmetric wounds. The present study delineates the development of thermoresponsive hydrogel (MCK), from hair-derived keratin (K) and methylcellulose (MC) in the presence of sodium sulfate.

Surgical Management of Peptic Perforation in a Tertiary Care Center: A Retrospective Study.

Background: The purpose of this study is to estimate disease burden, clinical features, and outcome in the emergency surgical management of peptic perforation in a rural government tertiary care center where patients are socioeconomically very poor and also impacted by lack of good quality health-care facility.

Materials And Methods: The study had retrospectively analyzed 121 patients with peptic perforation who had undergone emergency laparotomy at Midnapore medical college, West Bengal, India, from June 2018 to December 2019. All patients >12 years were included in this study.

Pattern of traumatic brain injury treated by general surgeons in a tertiary referral hospital.

The number of polytrauma patient with associated brain injury or commonly referred as 'head injury' has increased tremendously in recent times courtesy to road traffic accident or other causes. This prospective observational study was conducted in patients of head injury admitted through emergency in the department of general surgery in NRS Medical College, Kolkata during the year 2011 to determine the pattern of head injury patients admitted and nature of intervention. A total number of 3861 patients were admitted in a single year.

Laparoscopic versus open splenectomy in the treatment of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura: an Indian experience.

Unlabelled: Laparoscopic splenectomy (LS) is emerging as the treatment of choice over open splenectomy (OS) in cases of idiopathic (immune) thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) that is either steroid resistant or steroid unresponsive.The aim of the present study is to compare therapeutic response and outcome of patients with ITP undergoing LS with a similar group undergoing OS.The study was performed on 63 patients with ITP attending Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata, a tertiary level referral centre in Eastern India during 2005-2009.

A rare case of persistent muellerian duct syndrome presenting as inguinal hernia.

Irreducible inguinal hernia is a very common emergency surgical problem. In most of the cases the content is either bowel or omentum. Testis, as a content of hernial sac is also found in undescended testis presenting as obstructed or irreducible congenital inguinal hernia.

Laparoscopic repair of late presenting congenital Bochdalek diaphragmatic hernia.

Bochdalek diaphragmatic hernia is a common congenital anomaly presenting in the neonatal period and managed by open surgical procedures. Late presentation is usually associated with better prognosis. Here a case of a 10 years old boy presenting with Bochdalek hernia, managed primarily by laparoscopic approach is reported.

Prevalence of carcinoma stomach in a tertiary referral centre in Eastern India and its correlation with endoscopic findings.

Carcinoma stomach still remains a major killer cancer all over the world. Delay in early diagnosis or lack of awareness, infrastructure etc. is the major factor for late presentation in developing countries.
