Objective: To characterize trends and outcomes of aortic valve replacement in patients <65 with aortic stenosis between 2013 and 2021.
Methods: This retrospective analysis included 9,557 patients who underwent biological aortic valve replacement in California, New York, and New Jersey from 2013 through 2021. Patients were stratified by approach: transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) versus surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR).

Purpose Of Review: Over the past 25 years, robotic-assisted mitral valve surgery has gained significant recognition because of its potential to minimize patient trauma and improve clinical outcomes. This field has evolved from early efforts in minimally invasive mitral procedures to more refined and technically sophisticated approaches, driven by the need for smaller incisions and reduced recovery times.
Recent Findings: This review will delve into the historical evolution of robotic-assisted mitral valve surgery, detailing the technical advancements that have shaped current practices and outlining the essential training pathways for a career as robotic mitral valve surgeon.

Despite their ubiquitous use, there is no one-size-fits-all method for their production. Numerous methods have been developed to meet the demanding requirements of reproducibility, reliability, and high yield while simultaneously achieving robust encapsulation.

Here, we investigate two such membranes: a multi-component membrane composed of DOPC and DPPC lipids with gel and fluid separated domains, and a single component membrane composed of PMPC lipids forming ripples. We characterize their mechanical properties below their melting point, where ordered and disordered regions coexist, and above their melting point, where they are in fluid phase.

Direct surgical implantation of a transcatheter heart valve (THV) through a transatrial approach is a strategy to mitigate surgical risk. This study reports the perioperative and 1-year outcomes of mitral valve replacement using a THV in patients with severe circumferential MAC at 3 Canadian centers.

Within this article, we encapsulate the potential, progress, current state of the art, and persisting challenges within TNA research. Kicking off with a historical overview of xeno nucleic acids (XNAs), the discussion transitions to the compelling attributes and structure-property relationships of TNAs as advanced tools when contrasted with natural nucleic acids.

This analysis evaluates clinical practice and outcomes of TAVR and SAVR in patients aged ≤60 years.
Methods: We identified 2360 patients aged ≤60 years, including 523 TAVR (22.
The aim of this work was to evaluate the conformity of intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), and verify the accuracy of the planning and delivery system used in this work based on the AAPM TG-119 protocol. The Eclipse 13.6 treatment planning system (TPS) was used to plan the TG-119 test suite, which included four test cases: MultiTarget, Prostate, Head/Neck, and C-Shape for IMRT and VMAT techniques with 6 MV and 10 MV acceleration voltages.

Kagome lattice antiferromagnet FeGe is interesting because it displays a rare charge density wave (CDW) deep inside the antiferromagnetic ordered phase that interacts with the magnetic order. We use neutron scattering to study the evolution of spin and lattice excitations across the CDW transition T_{CDW} in FeGe.

Scope: Polar lipids, such as gangliosides and phospholipids, are fundamental structural components that play critical roles in the development and maturation of neurons in the brain. Recent evidence has demonstrated that dietary intakes of polar lipids in early life are associated with improved cognitive outcomes during infancy and adolescence. However, the specific mechanisms through which these lipids impact cognition remain unclear.

This study aimed to investigate the kinetics of viremia and its effects on subsequent platelet count, severe dengue, and plasma leakage.
Methods: We pooled data from three studies conducted in Vietnam between 2000 and 2016, involving 2340 dengue patients with daily viremia measurements and platelet counts after symptom onset.
Background: Coronary artery disease is a common cause of ischemic left ventricular systolic dysfunction (LVSD), for which the optimal revascularisation strategy remains unclear. We aimed to determine whether percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) or coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) results in greater survival advantage in patients with LVSD.
Methods: Study-level (SLMA) and reconstructed individual patient data (rIPDMA) meta-analyses from Kaplan-Meier (KM) survival curves were performed.
Eukaryotes swim with coordinated flagellar (ciliary) beating and steer by fine-tuning the coordination. The model organism for studying flagellate motility, , employs synchronous, breaststroke-like flagellar beating to swim, and it modulates the beating amplitudes differentially to steer. This strategy hinges on both inherent flagellar asymmetries (e.

This study aims to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of the prevalence of K13 mutations with ART resistance in malaria-endemic countries.

The Visual Paired Comparison Task (VPCT) assesses novelty preference, the tendency to fixate on novel images rather than previously viewed items, requiring recognition memory for the "old" images. As novelty preference is a sensitive measure of hippocampal-dependent memory function, we predicted impaired VPCT performance in epilepsy patients compared to healthy controls.
