The accurate body composition assessment comprises several variables, causing it to be a time consuming evaluation as well as requiring different and sometimes costly measurement instruments. The aim of this study was to develop new equations for the somatotype prediction, reducing the number of normal measurements required by the Heath and Carter approach. A group of 173 male soccer players (age, 13.

However, several variables contribute to influencing BIVA patterns by militating against an optimal interpretation of the data. This study aims to explore the association of morphological characteristics with bioelectrical properties in volleyball, soccer, and rugby players.

Background: Hepatic venous pressure gradient (HVPG) measurement correlates with staging of liver fibrosis. Patients with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) have a different pattern of fibrosis compared with hepatitis C virus (HCV) with possible alterations in pressures.
Aim: The aim of this study was to compare portal pressures with the stage of fibrosis in NASH in comparison with other liver diseases.
Objective: Historically, chronic pancreatitis (CP) was considered a disease of alcoholic males, but recent data suggest its etiology to be complex. To better understand CP in women, we compared data on women and men with CP in a large, prospectively ascertained multicenter US cohort.
Methods: Patients with CP enrolled in the NAPS2 Continuation and Validation study were studied.
Background: Interventions to attenuate the adverse effects of age-related loss of skeletal muscle and function include increased physical activity and nutritional supplementation.
Objective: This study tested the hypothesis that nutritional supplementation with whey protein (22 g), essential amino acids (10.9 g, including 4 g leucine), and vitamin D [2.
Description: Pain in patients with chronic pancreatitis (CP) remains the primary clinical complaint and source of poor quality of life. However, clear guidance on evaluation and treatment is lacking.
Methods: Pancreatic Pain working groups reviewed information on pain mechanisms, clinical pain assessment and pain treatment in CP.
Context: Chylous ascites is the accumulation of milky chyle in the peritoneal cavity. Chylous ascites has been reported after surgeries like abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, radical gastrectomy, duodenectomy, nephrectomy and Wilm's tumor resection. Our literature search did not reveal any reports of chylous ascites after a gastric ulcer resection.

BCG vaccine contains live attenuated strain of Mycobacterium bovis. Intravesical BCG is also effective in treatment of transitional cell carcinoma of the urinary bladder.

Steroid hormones, such as progesterone and testosterone, are derived from cholesterol, and are readily 5alpha-reduced to dihydroprogesterone and dihydrotestosterone, which are subsequently converted to 5alpha-pregnan-3alpha-ol-20-one (3alpha,5alpha-THP) and 3alpha-androstanediol, neuroactive steroids that can influence seizures. The present study examined the effects of the KD on circulating concentrations of these neuroactive steroids, and their precursors, in intact female rats.

Phase-sensitive impedance analysis can be used to reflect directly the proportions between intra- and extracellular spaces (ECM/BCM), which is one of the most sensitive indexes of malnutrition. Resistance and reactance values actually measured with BIA are referred to as the series RC model; however, due to the morphology of the FFM, which is composed of cells surrounded by interstitial fluids, in reality this should be modeled as a parallel RC circuit.
