We present a case of a young African migrant from Guinea-Conakry presented to a French emergency department with burning pain in both feet for 2 days. The symptoms progressed to limb paraparesis with sphincter disorders. A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan showed a hyperintense spinal cord lesion without contrast enhancement extending from the T6 vertebrae to the conus medullaris.

Increasing numbers of cases of tubular dysfunction and Fanconi syndrome have been reported in patients treated with tenofovir, after the detection of biochemical abnormalities during routine assessments. Some patients have acute renal failure, and bone involvement is observed in rare cases.

Case Report: We report the case of a patient in whom fever, weight loss and pericarditis developed after 16 years of treatment with sulfasalazine for ulcerative colitis, after increasing the daily dosage from 1 to 3 g.
