Diabetes mellitus, a metabolic syndrome characterized by hyperglycemia and insulin dysfunction, often leads to serious complications such as neuropathy, nephropathy, retinopathy, and cardiovascular disease. Incretins, gut peptide hormones released post-nutrient intake, have shown promising therapeutic effects on these complications due to their wide-ranging biological impacts on various body systems. Odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were aggregated using a random-effects model, while the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale and Egger's regression asymmetry test assessed study quality and publication bias, respectively.
We report for the first time the successful acquisition of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy data using an unconventional same-metal PCB-based three-electrode system. Conventional three-electrode systems primarily require expensive and bulky electrodes, and a high volume of analytes to conduct electrochemical impedance spectroscopy studies. The miniaturized PCB-based three-electrode system used in this work requires only trace amounts of analytes in the order of 10-20 μL owing to the design of the electrode sensor.
