The incidence and mortality data for patients with breast cancer in the United States are important to healthcare administrators for planning healthcare measures such as screening mammograms. In this study, we examined breast cancer incidence and incidence-based mortality in the United States from 2004-2018 using the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database. We reviewed 915,417 cases of breast cancer diagnosed between 2004 and 2018.

Typically, these neoplasms are benign and characterized by a slow growth pattern. Nevertheless, malignant transformation of these tumors is a rare event that may occur.

In this case report, we discuss a patient who has a history of HIV presenting with altered mental status and cytopenias, ultimately going into shock and passing away. We initially thought we would be dealing with a case of septic shock, but a diagnostic workup during his hospital case lead to a diagnosis of hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis.

Its presentation synchronously with other malignancies has been rarely reported. Here, we present a patient with HCL with hepatic involvement who was also found to have pancreatic adenocarcinoma concomitantly at the time of diagnosis.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLight chain (AL) amyloidosis is a plasma cell dyscrasia that results in an overproduction of immunoglobulins of the lambda or kappa light chains. These monoclonal ALs begin to form fibrils with each other and exert their toxic effect by depositing in different organs around the body. Disease presentation is indistinct, but it is ideal to diagnose this disorder before end-organ damage is caused.

As their use continues to increase, clinicians must be aware of the side effects, which are autoimmune in nature. Autoimmune diabetes has been described in the past while patients were being treated with programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) inhibitors, but it usually occurs after the patient's fourth or fifth cycle.

Very rarely, it can primarily contribute to hypoxic respiratory failure and found in a critical care setting. We report a case of a 51-year-old woman diagnosed with having mucinous adenocarcinoma of the lung who presented to the intensive care unit with rapidly worsening respiratory failure and found to have massive bronchorrhea with daily sputum volume exceeding 1000 mL/d at its peak.

Methods: We performed a retrospective review of all NBA players who had an ACL rupture between 2000 and 2019. Players were matched to healthy controls by age, position, body mass index, and player efficiency rating at the time of injury (index year).
Background: The treatment of Rockwood Grade-III acromioclavicular (AC) joint separation has been widely disputed since the introduction of the classification system. The present literature does not reach consensus on whether operative or nonoperative management is more advantageous, nor does it effectively distinguish between operative measures. We hypothesized that nonoperative treatment of Rockwood Grade-III AC joint separation would be more cost-effective when compared with surgical options.
