Aim: We aimed to assess the safety and efficacy of propofol midazolam in cirrhotic patients undergoing upper GI endoscopy.

Methods: Ninety compensated cirrhotic patients (all met class I-III criteria according to the American Society of Anesthesia) were enrolled in this comparative study. They were classified into three groups according to scheduled pre-endoscopy sedation drugs; the midazolam group, which included 30 patients who received IV weight-dependent midazolam (0.

Purpose: We investigated the added value of diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI)/apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) in the categorization of small hepatic observation (≤ 20 mm) detected in patients with chronic liver disease in reference to LI-RADS (liver imaging reporting and data system) classification system.

Methods: We prospectively evaluated 165 patients with chronic liver disease with small hepatic observations (≤ 20 mm) which were previously categorized as LI-RADS grade 3-5 on dynamic contrast-enhanced CT (DCE-CT). All patients were submitted to a functional MRI including DCE and DWI.

Article Synopsis
  • The study compares how well CT, MRI, and combined CT/MRI methods diagnose liver observations using the LI-RADS classification.
  • Combined CT/MRI outperformed individual methods, achieving higher accuracy (91.29%), sensitivity (90.71%), and specificity (92.31%) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) diagnosis.
  • While the combined approach enhances diagnostic precision, its increased cost means it should primarily be used for suspected HCC cases rather than routine assessments.
