Background: The prevalence of gastric ulcers has grown significantly in the modern era affecting 10 % of global population. Aspirin downregulates gastrokines 1(GKN1) expression in gastric mucosa and GKN1 down-regulation results in gastric cancer. Vitamin D3 (Vit.

Vinpocetine (Vinpo) is used for treating cerebrovascular deficits, exhibiting some kidney-beneficial effects; however, its role in TIF is uncertain. So, the aim of this study was to investigate its potential impact on adenine-induced fibrotic CKD and explore the underlying mechanistic aspects.

This study included 102 isolates of Mycobacterium tuberculosis collected from two reference laboratories in Cairo and Alexandria.

Methods: Participants included 40 psoriasis patients, 40 healthy controls, and 40 atopic eczema patients as a positive control group.
1background: Kidney stones is one of the serious medical conditions affecting populations worldwide. So, we aimed in this study to investigate the protective effect of allium cepa administration against KSD.
2methods: 24 adult male albino rats were assigned into 3 groups; group I: control group; group II: received ethylene glycol (EG) in the drinking water for 4 weeks; and group III received EG in the drinking water plus freshly prepared allium cepa extract (ACE) for 4 weeks.
Introduction: Patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) suffer from mucocutaneous changes that could significantly impair the quality of life. We aimed this study to assess the mucocutaneous changes in hemodialysis patients and to correlate the serum creatinine to these changes.
Methods: Data were collected from the Hemodialysis Center at Benha University.
Solitary fibrous tumors (SFTs) are rare soft tissue tumors that can arise in the abdomen, pleura, and central nervous system, among other sites. Surgical resection is the mainstay of management, although recurrence rates remain substantial. This case describes a 73-year-old male treated surgically for both a recurrent SFT and small bowel obstruction (SBO) secondary to adhesions.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a prominent cause of death worldwide. Infliximab is one of the anti-TNF-α; herein, we studied the effect of infliximab on adenine-induced CKD. To inspect the role of infliximab, either ameliorative or curative, on CDK induced with adenine.

We have investigated the correlation between circ-ITCH gene polymorphisms, circ-ITCH expression, and their effect on β-catenin levels and BC development.
Methods: Participants included 62 BC and 62 controls matched in terms of age.
The induction of an effective immune response is critical for the success of mRNA-based therapeutics. Here, we developed a nanoadjuvant system compromised of Quil-A and DOTAP (dioleoyl 3 trimethylammonium propane), hence named QTAP, for the efficient delivery of mRNA vaccine constructs into cells. Electron microscopy indicated that the complexation of mRNA with QTAP forms nanoparticles with an average size of 75 nm and which have ~90% encapsulation efficiency.

This current research aimed to study the effect of Tributyltin on the thyroid gland structure and function of adult male albino rats and the protective effect of Lycopene. Twenty-one male adult albino rats were classified into three groups: Control, treated that received Tributyltin, and protective that received Lycopene with Tributyltin.

Modified Live Virus (MLV) vaccines used commercially can revert to virulence in the field, recombine with circulating serotypes, and cause tissue damage in vaccinated birds. Previously, we showed that a mucosal adjuvant system, QuilA-loaded Chitosan (QAC) nanoparticles encapsulating plasmid vaccine encoding for IBV nucleocapsid (N), is protective against IBV.

Available inactivated vaccines are not effective in controlling the disease and vaccinated animals can continue to infect newly born calves. Recently, we have shown that a live-attenuated vaccine candidate (pgsN) is protective in goats and calves following challenge with virulent strains of .

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) remains a threat, and we must understand how SARS-CoV-2 can modulate both BCG immunity and tuberculosis pathogenesis. Interestingly, neither BCG vaccination nor tuberculosis infection resulted in differences in clinical outcomes associated with SARS-CoV-2 in transgenic mice.

Previously, we showed that nanoparticle plasmid DNA adjuvant system, QAC, and MVA based vaccines were immunogenic against SARS-CoV-2. Here, we report on the protective efficacy of systemic humoral and mucosal cell-mediated immune responses in transgenic mice models against SARS-CoV-2 following nanoparticle immunization.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe first-generation COVID-19 vaccines have been effective in mitigating severe illness and hospitalization, but recurring waves of infections are associated with the emergence of SARS-CoV-2 variants that display progressive abilities to evade antibodies, leading to diminished vaccine effectiveness. The lack of clarity on the extent to which vaccine-elicited mucosal or systemic memory T cells protect against such antibody-evasive SARS-CoV-2 variants remains a critical knowledge gap in our quest for broadly protective vaccines. Using adjuvanted spike protein–based vaccines that elicit potent T cell responses, we assessed whether systemic or lung-resident CD4 and CD8 T cells protected against SARS-CoV-2 variants in the presence or absence of virus-neutralizing antibodies.

Nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) compose a group of mycobacteria that do not belong to the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex group. They are frequently isolated from environmental samples such as water, soil, and, to a lesser extent, food samples. Isolates of NTM represent a major health threat to humans worldwide, especially those who have asthma or are immunocompromised.
