Acute cerebellar ataxia is a clinical syndrome that involves loss of balance and coordination, typically within less than 72 hours. It usually presents in children and rarely affect adults. A woman in her early 20s presented with acute onset dizziness, vertigo, truncal ataxia and dysarthria 2 weeks following an acute viral illness.

As one of the most efficacious glaucoma surgical techniques, trabeculectomy is considered by many surgeons to be the "gold standard" intra-ocular pressure (IOP)-reducing intervention. The purpose of this study is to present our intra-operative flow-adjusted surgical method, which aims to provide safety and efficacy more simply than previous methods. Retrospectively, we evaluated outcomes for trabeculectomy or phacotrabeculectomy in surgery-naïve eyes over three years for patients with glaucoma not associated with other ocular co-morbidities.

Article Synopsis
  • The study emphasizes the significance of accurately distinguishing between cystic lesions of endodontic (related to the tooth's pulp) and non-endodontic origins, as this affects treatment decisions.
  • An analysis of 4,908 cases identified 183 relevant samples, revealing a high diagnostic accuracy of 91.84% for both radicular cysts and non-endodontic cysts.
  • Despite this accuracy, potential misdiagnosis of non-endodontic lesions as endodontic requires histological evaluation for precise diagnosis, highlighting the need for further research in this area.

Purpose: To evaluate intravitreal bevacizumab every 2 weeks (biweekly) in refractory neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD).

Study Design: Retrospective study.

Methods: A retrospective study of consecutive nAMD patients unresponsive to monthly intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) switched to 3-4 biweekly injections.

Purpose: This study reports the presentation of two families with gyrate atrophy (GA). The aim of this study was to characterize the potential effect of therapeutic regimens on macular edema.

Methods: Two unrelated patients with GA were studied for the potential effect of low protein diet (≤ 0.

Aim: To compare the cleaning effectiveness and shaping ability of SafeSider, ProTaper Universal and Lightspeed rotary instruments during the preparation of curved root canals in extracted human teeth.

Materials And Methods: A total of 63 roots with curved root canals were divided into three groups. Canals were prepared using SafeSider, ProTaper Universal or Lightspeed LSX.

We introduce and explore a model of an ensemble of agents searching, in parallel, a long circular strand for a target site. The agents performing the search combine local-scanning (conducted by a one-dimensional motion along the strand) and random relocations on the strand. The agent-ensemble search-durations are analyzed, their limiting probability distributions are obtained in closed-form, and the optimal relocation strategies are derived.

Exact results for the first passage time and leapover statistics of symmetric and one-sided Lévy flights (LFs) are derived. LFs with a stable index alpha are shown to have leapover lengths that are asymptotically power law distributed with an index alpha for one-sided LFs and, surprisingly, with an index alpha/2 for symmetric LFs. The first passage time distribution scales like a power law with an index 1/2 as required by the Sparre-Andersen theorem for symmetric LFs, whereas one-sided LFs have a narrow distribution of first passage times.

We investigate both analytically and numerically the first passage time (FPT) problem in one dimension for anomalous diffusion processes in which Lévy flights and subdiffusion coexist. We analyze the FPT for three subclasses of Lévy stable motions: (i) symmetric Lévy motions characterized by Lévy index mu, 0 View Article and Find Full Text PDF
