To date, there is no evidence that internal anti-rotation configurations are better than external ones. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of eccentric cyclic loading on abutment screw loosening in internal and external hexagon implants with either of these two screw materials, titanium (Ti) alloy versus gold alloy. The reverse torque value of the abutment screw was measured before (initial preload) and after loading (post-loading).

Five conventional cements, six resin-modified glass ionomers (RMGIs), two methyl methacrylate (MMA)-based acrylic resins (eight shades), and nine composite luting materials were evaluated. As part of a study to clarify the features and advantages of internal anti-rotation configurations, the objective of the present investigation was to compare and evaluate the marginal fit and size of microgap at the implant-abutment interface for several external and internal anti-rotation configurations. To this end, three internal connection and two external hex connection implant-abutment assemblies were examined in this study.

This article describes a technique for fabricating cement-retained crowns over a customized gingiva-colored composite resin screw-retained implant infrastructure. This prosthetic design is not significantly influenced by unsuitable implant position, alignment, or angulation. Consequently, the cement-retained crowns can be reproduced in an esthetically and functionally appropriate morphology, regardless of where the screw-access openings are located in the infrastructure.
