Background: Colorectal obstruction is a critical condition requiring prompt diagnosis and intervention. Gastrografin, a water-soluble contrast agent, combines diagnostic and therapeutic benefits, facilitating bowel cleansing and enhancing intestinal motility. This study assessed the safety and effectiveness of Gastrografin enemas in emergency settings.

In this study, we evaluated the effectiveness of the maXium HF surgical device manufactured by KLS Martin (Germany) during endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR).
Materials And Methods: The maXium device offers multiple preconfigured modes for incision and coagulation tailored to different surgical procedures.
Background/aim: New treatment agents for advanced non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) have improved overall survival (OS) in the last 20 years. Nevertheless, treatment strategies for patients with NSCLC and pulmonary fibrosis have not yet been established. This study aimed to evaluate OS improvement in patients with stage IV NSCLC based on the underlying pulmonary diseases.

Amplicon sequencing of amoA is a widely used method; however, it produces inaccurate results owing to the lack of a 'universal' primer set. Moreover, currently available primer sets suffer from amplification biases, which can lead to severe misinterpretation.

The primary objective of the study was to assess the long-term efficacy of standardized treatment regimens, while the secondary objective focused on identifying associated long-term complications.
Methods: Total 228 patients were classified into three groups for treatment: germinoma (n=161), intermediate prognosis (n=38), and poor prognosis (n=28), excluding one mature teratoma case.
Purpose: To develop a new method to generate synthetic MR spectroscopic imaging (MRSI) data for training machine learning models.
Methods: This study targeted routine MRI examination protocols with single voxel spectroscopy (SVS). A novel model derived from pix2pix generative adversarial networks was proposed to generate synthetic MRSI data using MRI and SVS data as inputs.
Purpose: Meningiomas are the most common type of brain tumors and are generally benign, but malignant atypical meningiomas and anaplastic meningiomas frequently recur with poor prognosis. The metabolism of meningiomas is little known, so few effective treatment options other than surgery and radiation are available, and the targets for treatment of recurrence are not well defined. The Aim of this paper is to find the therapeutic target.

In this study, a novel method for localizing the guidewire tip emitter in the elevation direction using a 1D array probe is proposed to resolve the issue of the tip potentially deviating from the ultrasound-imaged plane.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAtypical teratoid/rhabdoid (AT/RT) is a rare and highly malignant tumor of the central nervous system (CNS). It is most commonly found in children less than 5 years of age and is associated with inactivation of loss of function of SMARCB1/INI1. An experimental model for AT/RT is necessary to develop new and effective therapies.

Mitsugumin 23 (MG23) has been identified as a ball-shaped cation channel in the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) but its physiological role remains unclear. This study aimed to examine the contribution of MG23 to Ca storage function in skeletal muscle by using -knockout () mice. There was no difference in the isometric specific force of the extensor digitorum longus (EDL) and soleus (SOL) muscles between and wild-type (Wt) mice.

In this study, we used cancer registries established in Japan after 2016 and available patient data by organ in order to conduct an accurate epidemiological study. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to report on the detailed epidemiological data on MBT at the prefectural level in Japan using the Miyazaki Brain Tumor Database and Miyazaki Cancer Registry.

Serious mutations in the TRIC-B (also referred to as TMEM38B) locus cause autosomal recessive osteogenesis imperfecta (OI), which is characterized by insufficient bone mineralization. We have reported that Tric-b-knockout mice can be used as an OI model; Tric-b deficiency deranges ER Ca handling and thus reduces extracellular matrix (ECM) synthesis in osteoblasts, leading to poor mineralization.

It is now appreciated that the junctophilin protein family is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and modulating the structure and function of these junctions. We review foundational findings from more than two decades of research that have uncovered how junctophilin-organized ultrastructural domains regulate evolutionarily conserved biological processes.

This manipulation is a well-known example of the "extended phenotype," where genes in one organism have phenotypic effects on another organism. Recent studies have explored the parasite genes responsible for such manipulation of host behavior, including the potential molecular mechanisms.

DNA methylation profiles are specific to cell types, and can be utilized for assessment of the fraction of such contaminating non-target cells. Here, we aimed 1) to identify methylation profiles specific to multiple types of mouse leukocytes, and 2) to estimate the fraction of leukocytes infiltrating inflamed tissues using DNA samples.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTrimeric intracellular cation channels (TRIC-A and TRIC-B) are thought to provide counter-ion currents to enable charge equilibration across the sarco/endoplasmic reticulum (SR) and nuclear membranes. However, there is also evidence that TRIC-A may interact directly with ryanodine receptor type 1 (RyR1) and 2 (RyR2) to alter RyR channel gating. It is therefore possible that the reverse is also true, where the presence of RyR channels is necessary for fully functional TRIC channels.

However, it is still controversial whether IM itself is precancerous or paracancerous. Here, we aimed to explore the precancerous nature of IM by analysing epigenetic alterations.

Background: Ameloblastic carcinoma (AC) is a rare odontogenic carcinoma with histological features resembling ameloblastoma. Metastasis to distant organs and direct expansion into the skull base structures are associated with a poor clinical outcome. This rare case of AC metastasis to the pituitary gland presented without local recurrence at the primary focus of the maxilla.
