A 73-year-old man, exhibiting psychomotor excitement after traumatic brain injury, developed allergic cutaneous eruptions and hepatic inflammation that did not resolve after the cessation of carbamazepine (CBZ). Fusing maculopapular erythema was observed in the face, neck, presternal region, and bilaterally in the forearms and feet. A drug-induced lymphocyte stimulation test revealed hypersensitivity to chlorpromazine (CPZ) and valproic acid (VPA), as well as to CBZ.

We report a case of bilateral annular breast keloids in a 72-year-old woman who had been suffering from bilateral breast cancers. Histopathologically, the keloids showed unique distribution of α-SMA+, CD34- myofibroblasts and α-SMA-, CD34+ fibroblasts depending on the region. High serum levels of tumor growth factor-β were detected at 6 months after the development of the breast keloids, but not at 10 months.

Article Synopsis
  • A rare case of concomitant confluent and reticulated papillomatosis (CRP) and acanthosis nigricans (AN) was observed in a 12-year-old obese Japanese girl, highlighting the intersection of these two skin conditions.
  • Oral minocycline therapy, typically effective for CRP, also showed results in improving both CRP and obesity-related AN in this patient.
  • The study discusses mechanisms for minocycline's effectiveness and reviews literature linking CRP and obesity-associated AN, suggesting they may share common underlying causes or mechanisms.

Background: The majority of patients with cholinergic urticaria presents with strong hypersensitivity to autologous sweat. Patients with severe cholinergic urticaria are frequently resistant to H(1) antagonists which are used in conventional therapies for various types of urticaria. It has been reported that desensitization using partially purified sweat antigen was effective in a patient with cholinergic urticaria.
