JAK2 mutation-positive polycythaemia vera associated with IgA vasculitis and nephrotic syndrome: a case report.

We report a case of polycythaemia vera (PV) associated with IgA vasculitis. A 45-year-old man was admitted for evaluation of abdominal pain and palpable purpura. IgA vasculitis was diagnosed, and oral prednisolone therapy (30 mg/day) was initiated.

Multidisciplinary Approach to Prevent de novo Hepatitis B in Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis.

The reactivation of hepatitis B virus (HBV) in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is currently a social problem. Our hospital has established a project team, which consisted of medical staff including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and technicians, to prevent HBV reactivation and subsequent de novo hepatitis B in 2015. To verify the usefulness of the team, we aimed to examine the implementation rate of HBV screening tests in patients with RA in 2011, 2015, and 2018.

[A case of emergency surgery for acalculous gangrenous cholecystitis due to celiac artery dissection].

A 36-year-old man who complained of epigastric pain was transferred to the emergency room. We performed contrast enhanced computed tomography (CT) but were unable to confirm a diagnosis at that time. Because this patient had symptoms of gallbladder inflammation following hospitalization, we reviewed the CT images.

A Retrospective Study, an Initial Lesion of Primary Malignant Melanoma of the Esophagus Revealed by Endoscopy.

A 66-year-old man presented to his previous physician with epigastric discomfort in 2014. He was then referred to our hospital due to suspected primary malignant melanoma of the esophagus (PMME). A biopsy showed atypical cells containing melanin granules.

1(OH) vitamin D3 supplementation improves the sensitivity of the immune-response during Peg-IFN/RBV therapy in chronic hepatitis C patients-case controlled trial.

Objective: 1,25(OH)2 vitamin D3 can affect immune cells. However, the mechanism responsible for the favorable effects of 1(OH) vitamin D3, which becomes 1,25(OH)2 vitamin D3 in the liver, is not clear. The aim of this study is to analyze the immunological response of 1(OH) vitamin D3 supplementation in CH-C patients.

Sequential immunological analysis of HBV/HCV co-infected patients during Peg-IFN/RBV therapy.

Background: The immunopathogenesis of dual chronic infection with hepatitis B virus and hepatitis C virus (HBV/HCV) remains unclear. The in vivo suppressive effects of each virus on the other have been reported. In this study we aimed to analyze the virological and immunological parameters of HBV/HCV coinfected patients during pegylated interferon/ribavirin (Peg-IFN/RBV) therapy.

Liver cell adenoma showing sequential alteration of radiological findings suggestive of well-differentiated hepatocellular carcinoma.

A liver tumor 35 mm in diameter was found incidentally in a 40-year-old woman who had no history of liver diseases or the use of oral contraceptives. Radiological diagnostics showed the typical findings of liver cell adenoma (LCA). Dynamic computed tomography revealed that the tumor showed a homogenous enhancement in the arterial phase and almost the same enhancement as the surrounding liver parenchyma in the delayed phase.

[Long survival of advanced gastric cancer patient after total gastrectomy and postoperative treatment with S-1 despite S-1+CDDP+CPT-11 causing perforation].

Here we report a rare case with perforation of gastric cancer responding to chemotherapy. The patient was a 74- year-old male who underwent abdominal ultrasonography and contrast CT because of body-weight lost and poor appetite in June, 2004 and whose lymph node(LN)swelling was seen in the level from the hepatic to the renal hilum. A gastric wall irregularity was also seen.

Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is one of the major causative agents of acute hepatitis in many developing countries. Recent intensive examination has revealed the existence of non-imported cases in industrialized countries. The patient was a 25-year-old Japanese female with acute hepatitis.
