Faithful DNA replication is essential for genome integrity. Under-replicated DNA leads to defects in chromosome segregation, which are common during embryogenesis. However, the regulation of DNA replication remains poorly understood in early mammalian embryos.

In this work, a novel π-extended thio[7]helicene scaffold was synthesized, where the α-position of the thiophene unit could be functionalized with bulky phenoxy radicals after considerable synthetic attempts. This open-shell helical diradical, , possesses high stability in the air, nontrivial π conjugation, persistent chirality, and a high diradical character ( of 0.998).

Background: Late laryngopharyngeal cancers after transoral surgery include not only local recurrences but also metachronous multiple cancers.
Methods: We compared clinical information, surgical outcomes, and late laryngopharyngeal cancers in patients who underwent transoral nonrobotic surgery for laryngopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma without lymph node metastases between 2015 and 2021 in a multicenter retrospective study.
Results: Four hundred and fifty-seven patients were included.
Thymus- and activation-regulated chemokine (TARC, also known as CCL17) is used as a biomarker for atopic dermatitis. The methods currently used for its measurement are complex, time-consuming, and require large machinery, warranting the need for a method that is simple, has a quick turnaround time, and requires less complex machinery. We evaluated the analytical performance of a novel latex turbidimetric immunoassay method, "Nanopia TARC", on 174 residual serum samples from patients with skin or allergic diseases.

The versatility of the metallocenes stems from their ability to stabilize a wide range of formal electron counts. To date, d-block metallocenes with an electron count of up to 20 have been synthesized and utilized in catalysis, sensing, and other fields.

However, preoperative differentiation is often difficult. This study elucidated how clinicians diagnose parathyroid carcinoma and the relationship between preoperative diagnosis and the operative course.

Most are squamous cell carcinomas, and malignant melanomas, olfactory neuroblastomas, adenoid cystic carcinomas, sarcomas, and others also occur. The most common primary site of nasal sinus squamous cell carcinoma is the maxillary sinus.

At the end of June 2022, our hospital experienced an in-hospital cluster of COVID-19. When examined using the GeneXpert System, the cycle threshold (Ct) value of the N2 region of the nucleocapsid gene of SARS-CoV-2 was approximately 10 cycles higher than that of the envelope gene.

There is limited evidence on the evaluation of serum lipid levels through lifestyle modification. This study aims to evaluate the effect of a smartphone application-based diet and exercise improvement program on men living with HIV and dyslipidemia.

Theoretical calculations by various methods and variable-temperature EPR analyses were performed to tackle the elusive ground state of BIA diradical, suggesting a singlet ground state with a nearly degenerate triplet state. These results provide insight into the design of unique open-shell biaryls.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has been a public health concern worldwide. Ensitrelvir (S-217622) has been evaluated as an antiviral treatment for COVID-19, targeting SARS-CoV-2 3C-like protease (3CL). Ensitrelvir has been reported to have comparable antiviral activity against some of the SARS-CoV-2 variants: alpha, beta, gamma, delta, and omicron (BA.

During differentiation of mouse 3T3-L1 cells into adipocytes, cells undergo one or two rounds of cell division called mitotic clonal expansion (MCE). MCE is an essential step for adipogenesis; however, little is known about the regulation of DNA replication during this period.

Advances in "omics" technology have made it possible to study a wide range of cellular phenomena at the single-cell level. Recently, we developed single-cell DNA replication sequencing (scRepli-seq) that measures replication timing (RT) by copy number differences between replicated and unreplicated genomic DNA in replicating single mammalian cells. This method has been used to reveal previously unrecognized static and dynamic natures of several hundred kilobases to a few megabases-scale chromosomal units called RT domains.

Herein, we modified our patient selection protocol based on age and premorbid independence in older adult patients.
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 141 consecutive patients with acute ischemic stroke who were treated with MT between 2015 and 2020.
E/L Repli-seq is a powerful tool for detecting cell type-specific replication landscapes in mammalian cells, but its potential to monitor DNA replication under replication stress awaits better understanding. Here, we used E/L Repli-seq to examine the temporal order of DNA replication in human retinal pigment epithelium cells treated with the topoisomerase I inhibitor camptothecin. We found that the replication profiles by E/L Repli-seq exhibit characteristic patterns after replication-stress induction, including the loss of specific initiation zones within individual early replication timing domains.

Materials And Methods: We examined 34 consecutive patients treated with mechanical thrombectomy for acute vertebrobasilar artery occlusion. Procedural and clinical outcomes were assessed and compared between patients treated with a direct aspiration first pass technique first-line strategy (ADAPT group) and stent retriever system first-line strategy (stent retriever group).
Objectives: A direct first-pass aspiration technique (ADAPT) is an attractive interventional technique for mechanical thrombectomy (MT), which could achieve recanalization quickly and safely at a small amount of material resources. To clarify its usefulness, our ADAPT first-line strategy for middle cerebral artery (MCA)-mainstem occlusion was retrospectively analyzed.
Materials And Methods: We reviewed 54 consecutive patients who underwent MT for MCA-mainstem occlusion using ADAPT first-line strategy.
