Background: Atropine sulfate is an anticholinergic agent for treatment of hypertrophic pyloric stenosis and is orally administrated as a triturate with lactose hydrate. The transcription factor paired box gene 5 (Pax5) is essential for B cell development. In this study, complementation analyses in Pax5-deficient DT40 cells showed that three Pax5 isoforms Pax5A, Pax5B and Pax5BΔEx8 (another spliced isoform of Pax5B lacking exon 8) exhibit distinct roles in transcriptional regulation of six B cell development-related genes (activation-induced cytidine deaminase, Aiolos, BTB and CNC homology 2, B cell lymphoma-6, early B cell factor 1, origin binding factor-1 genes), transcriptions of which are remarkably down-regulated by Pax5-deficiency. Moreover, ectopic expression study shows that these Pax5 isoforms may regulate themselves and each other at the transcriptional level.

The efficacy of skin regeneration devices consisting of nonwoven filters and peripheral blood cells was investigated for wound healing. We previously found that human peripheral blood cells enhanced their production of growth factors, such as transforming growth factor β1 (TGF-β1) and vascular endothelial growth factor, when they were captured on nonwoven filters. Cells on biodegradable filters were expected to serve as a local supply of growth factors and cell sources when they were placed in wounded skin.

The angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AT1) is a 7-transmembrane domain GPCR that when activated by its ligand angiotensin II, generates signaling events promoting vascular dysfunction and the development of cardiovascular disease. Here, we show that the single-transmembrane oxidized LDL (oxLDL) receptor (LOX-1) resides in proximity to AT1 on cell-surface membranes and that binding of oxLDL to LOX-1 can allosterically activate AT1-dependent signaling events. oxLDL-induced signaling events in human vascular endothelial cells were abolished by knockdown of AT1 and inhibited by AT1 blockade (ARB).
