European foulbrood (EFB) is a bee larvae-specific infectious disease and the causative pathogen is Melissococcus plutonius. Broad-spectrum antibiotics have classically been used in many countries to control the pathogens; however, their use in apiaries was discontinued in several countries due to concerns regarding the health of bees and humans. Therefore, the development of alternative treatments for use in apiaries that are safe for bees and humans is essential.

Results identifying this species were inconsistent; Clostridium novyi type A infection was suggested by PCR assay targeting Clostridium fliC region (fliC-multiplex PCR), while 16S rRNA gene sequencing identified the isolated bacteria as Clostridium massiliodielmoense.

In the literatures, there is a discrepancy among the results of chromosomal alteration in PRNRP depending on the analytical methods. Here, we comprehensively analyzed the status of chromosomal abnormalities in PRNRP.

This study aimed to investigate the impact of zygosity in HLA genes and individual HLA genotypes on the efficacy of an anti-PD-1 Ab, nivolumab, in treating advanced RCC. Patient enrollment was conducted across 23 institutions in Japan from August 19, 2019, to September 30, 2020, with follow-up concluding on March 31, 2021.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTyramine, a trace monoamine produced from tyrosine by decarboxylation and found naturally in foods, plants, and animals, is a suspected virulence factor of Melissococcus plutonius that causes European foulbrood in honey bee brood. In the present study, we developed a method for quantitative analysis of tyramine in culture medium and honey bee larvae with a limit of quantitation of 3 ng/mL and a recovery rate of >97% using Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry/Mass Spectrometry and deuterium-labeled tyramine, demonstrating for the first time that a highly virulent M. plutonius strain actually produces tyramine in infected larvae.

However, supporting evidence has not described. We evaluated LN+ patients' survival after radical prostatectomy (RP) based on the LN maximum tumor diameter (MTD).

In the pre-enfortumab vedotin era, many patients could not receive third-line treatment owing to rapid disease progression and poor general status. This study aimed to analyze real-world sequential treatment practices for la/mUC in Japan, with a focus on patients who do not receive third-line treatment.

Methods: Patients who underwent salvage RARP for local recurrence after carbon ion radiotherapy at Kyushu University Hospital between 2020 and 2023 were included. A single surgeon performed salvage RARP with extended pelvic lymph node dissection.
Objectives: Excellent anticancer effect for solid tumors with microsatellite instability (MSI)-high by anti-PD-1 antibody has been reported. In this study, we investigated the clinical impact of MSI status in bladder cancer.
Methods: This study included 205 Japanese patients who underwent transurethral resection for bladder cancer between 2005 and 2021.
A mismatch amplification mutation assay (MAMA)-PCR, which detects a single-nucleotide polymorphism contributed to serological difference between Streptococcus suis serotypes 2 and 1/2, is used to discriminate between these serotypes. The present study reports unusual serotype 1/2 isolates untypable by the MAMA-PCR and improvement of the MAMA-PCR for typing such isolates.

Here, we compared the protective properties of the capsular polysaccharide (CPS) of different serotypes by using serotype-switched mutants in a mouse model of infection. CPS structure influenced bacterial survival in mice, antibody binding, and antibody-mediated bacterial killing.

However, conventional X-ray topography uses simple X-ray diffraction images, which means depth information on defects and dislocations cannot be obtained. We have therefor developed a novel three-dimensional micro-X-ray topography technique (3D μ-XRT) that combines Bragg-case section topography with focused sheet-shaped X-rays.

HSD3B1 was overexpressed in darolutamide-resistant cells and induced by darolutamide treatment and AR knockdown. Inversely, HSD3B1 knockdown increased cellular sensitivity to darolutamide.

Although this bacterium was originally described in the early 20th century, a culture method for this bacterium was not established until more than 40 years after its discovery due to its fastidious characteristics, including the requirement for high potassium and anaerobic/microaerophilic conditions. These characteristics were considered to be common to the majority of M.

We herein developed the first S. pluranimalium-specific PCR assay useful for the easy and reliable identification of this species.

To tackle this issue, we have developed an scanning ion conductance microscopy (SICM) method that can directly visualize an ion-concentration profile and surface topography using a SICM nanopipette while controlling the sample potential or current with a potentiostat for characterizing the polarization state during charging/discharging. Using SICM on the negative electrode (anode) of LIBs, we have characterized ion-concentration profile changes and the reversible volume changes related to the phase transition during cyclic voltammetry (CV) and charge/discharge of the graphite anode.

Some PRCCs express high expression of TFE3 protein without TFE3 gene rearrangement, but no reports have investigated the significance of this.
