Background And Objectives: Like adults, children can have allergic transfusion reactions (ATRs) and febrile non-haemolytic transfusion reactions (FNHTRs). But published information about the incidence of paediatric ATR and FNHTR is scarce.
Materials And Methods: This retrospective study was conducted from April 2002 to June 2018 on children who had ATRs and/or FNHTRs to platelet (PLT), red blood cell (RBC) or washed PLT/RBC concentrate transfusions.
There have been few reports on pediatric transfusion-associated circulatory overload (TACO). A 5-year-old boy with neuroblastoma underwent resection of the residual tumor. Because anemia progressed at the end of the operation, transfusion of red cell component was initiated.

Materials And Methods: Single-donor whole blood products were processed into four subunits: with and without leucofiltration, with and without X-irradiation (25 Gy). Platelet-, leucocyte-, and erythrocyte-derived microparticles and free haemoglobin were measured periodically throughout 42 days of storage.
A variation of the fatty acid composition is closely associated with the clinical state of inflammatory disorder and metabolic syndrome. The analysis of serum fatty acid composition of neonates and infants has been measured hardly at the laboratory, because a large quantity of serum was required for an analysis and the measurement procedure was cumbersome. We examined the rapid and easy analysis in a small amount of serum using the combination methods of the gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC MS) and the quick transmethylation.

However, direct comparison of these programs remains extremely limited.
Study Design And Methods: We investigated 188 collections and products from autologous (patient) and allogeneic (donor) subjects and analyzed a subset of 89 allogeneic collections and products.

The atrioventricular (AV) node, which is located between the atria and ventricles of the heart, acts as important roles in cardiac excitation conduction between the two chambers. Although there are multiple conduction pathways in the AV node, the structure of the AV node has not been clarified. In this study, we constructed a one-dimensional model of the AV node and simulated excitation conduction between the right atrium and the bundle of His via the AV node.

To elucidate the role of leukofiltration, we compared three commercially available filters for their effect on platelet (PLT)-derived (PDMP), leukocyte-derived (LDMP), and red blood cell-derived (RDMP) microparticle formation in apheresis PLTs.
Study Design And Methods: Apheresis PLTs from pairs of ABO-identical male donors were pooled and divided into four volumes.
In this study, the anti-allergy potency of thirteen tannins isolated from the galls on buds of Carpinus tschonoskii (including two tannin derivatives) was investigated. RBL-2H3 (rat basophilic leukemia) cells were incubated with these compounds, and the release of β-hexosaminidase and cytotoxicity were measured. Of the thirteen tannins, tetragalloylglucose (2), pentagalloylglucose (3), casuarictin (4), and casuarinin (9) were the most potent inhibitors, and all the tannins showed no cytotoxic effect after 24 h of incubation.
