Since there are few reports on PD-PGB, the present study performed a detailed characterisation of this disease. Background: Carotid webs are rare nonatherosclerotic disorders in the carotid artery and are increasingly recognized as factors of ischemic stroke in the young population. Asymptomatic webs can be treated with antithrombotic therapy, whereas symptomatic cases frequently require surgical interventions, including carotid endarterectomy (CEA). However, guidelines for the optimal timing of these treatments remain unestablished, especially compared to atherosclerotic stenotic lesions, due to the rarity of carotid webs.

Method: SCARLET was a single-arm phase II study of chemotherapy-naïve patients with KRAS G12C-mutated non-Sq NSCLC. Objectives: This study aimed to describe the characteristics, inflammatory markers as surrogates for disease activity, and treatment of patients with polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) in Japan.

Methods: This cohort study analysed the data of 373 patients with PMR retrieved from an electronic medical records database in Japan. Patients were classified into quartiles, based on the daily glucocorticoid dose over the initial 90 days of treatment (Q1-Q4).

The fabricated Sb film shows the (√3×√3)R30º superstructure associated with the formation of ⍺-Sb, and exhibits a semiconducting nature with a band gap of more than 1.

Necrotizing soft tissue infections (NTSIs) represent a concept of necrotizing infections involving the skin, subcutaneous tissue, fascia, and muscle, and it is a potentially fatal disease. Early exploratory incision is strongly recommended for both the diagnosis and treatment of necrotizing soft tissue infections. Treatment of necrotizing soft tissue infections requires the administration of appropriate antimicrobial agents and adequate surgical debridement.

Relationship between the location of the popliteal artery and the tibial osteotomy plane in patients with medial and lateral unicompartmental knee arthroplasty: A retrospective analysis of preoperative magnetic resonance imaging and intraoperative findings.

Purpose: To clarify the location of the popliteal artery (PA) is relative to the tibial osteotomy plane in patients with medial and lateral unicompartmental knee osteoarthritis (KOA) undergoing UKA.

Methods: Preoperative MRI and postoperative radiographs obtained from 50 patients with unicompartmental KOA who underwent fixed-bearing UKA were analyzed. The amount of tibial resection was determined from the surgical records, and a line was drawn parallel to the tibial posterior tilt angle on the sagittal MR image to create a virtual tibial cut line.

The Specialized Donor Care Facility Model Improves Operating Room Efficiency.

Background: Organ procurement organizations coordinate organ donation through 2 distinct models of care: the conventional model, in which donors are managed at hospitals where brain death occurs, and the specialized donor care facility (SDCF) model, where brain dead donors are transferred to a freestanding facility. The aim of this study is to compare operating room efficiency for procurements between the SDCF and conventional models of care.

Methods: We performed a prospective analysis of operating room efficiency between thoracic donor procurement operations performed at a SDCF and other organ procurement organizations using the conventional model of care.

Efficacy of tranilast in preventing exacerbating cardiac function and death from heart failure in muscular dystrophy patients with advanced-stage heart failure: a single-arm, open-label, multicenter study.

Background: Transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily V member 2 (TRPV2) functions as a stretch-sensitive calcium channel, with overexpression in the sarcolemma of skeletal and cardiac myocytes leading to detrimental calcium influx and triggering muscle degeneration. In our previous pilot study, we showed that tranilast, a TRPV2 inhibitor, reduced brain natriuretic peptide levels in two patients with muscular dystrophy and advanced heart failure. Building on this, we performed a single-arm, open-label, multicenter study herein to evaluate the safety and efficacy of tranilast in the treatment of advanced heart failure in patients with muscular dystrophy.

Inside-out repair of meniscal tears is the gold standard surgical approach; however, its use is limited by the need for a posterior incision and neurovascular risk. In this Technical Report, we present details of the all-inside arthroscopic tie-grip approach for repairing a radial tear of the midbody of the lateral meniscus using an all-inside device (TRUESPAN) and a slotted cannula. In contrast to the inside-out approach, this technique helps reduce surgical invasiveness and provides stable fixation as the vertical mattress sutures bundle the circumferential fibers and act as rip stops for the horizontal sutures.
