Brain metastasis from cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma coexistent with extramammary Paget's disease: A case report.

We report a case of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (CSCC), initially coexisting with invasive extramammary Paget's disease (EMPD), in the scrotum of an 84-year-old man. The patient initially had a rash and pruritus before presenting with a pedunculated scrotal mass surrounded by widespread erythema. He underwent total gastrectomy for adenocarcinoma 1 year previously and had been receiving TS-1 (Tegafur/Gimeracil/Oteracil pottasium) orally.

Pericarditis caused by herpes zoster.

A 53-year-old immunocompetent male visited our hospital complaining of chest pain which persisted for 6 h. After detailed examination, the patient was diagnosed with viral pericarditis and treated with aspirin. On day 3 after admission, rash with blisters appeared on the right side of chest.

Therapeutic depletion of myeloid lineage leukocytes by adsorptive apheresis for psoriatic arthritis: Efficacy of a non-drug intervention for patients refractory to pharmacologics.

Psoriatic arthritis (PsA), a chronic inflammatory arthropathy associated with psoriasis, is an intractable immune disorder and refractory to pharmacological intervention. We assessed efficacy of selective depletion of myeloid lineage leukocytes in patients with PsA in a multicenter setting. A total of 20 patients with moderate to severe PsA refractory to conventional and biological disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs were included.

Increased carbonyl protein level in the stratum corneum of inflammatory skin disorders: A non-invasive approach.

The stratum corneum (SC) is the interface of body and environment, and is continuously exposed to oxidative stress, resulting in carbonyl modification of proteins. We have developed a simple and non-invasive method to assess carbonyl protein (CP) level in the SC, applied it to various kinds of skin, and revealed a link between the stratum corneum carbonylated protein (SCCP) level and water content in the SC. The purpose of the present study is to examine the SCCP level in inflammatory skin disorders associated with xerosis.
