Objective: Acute appendicitis (AA) is the most common cause of acute abdomen and appendectomy is one of the most common surgical procedures. In this study, we aimed to compare open appendectomy (OA) and laparoscopic (LA) surgical techniques in the treatment of AA.

Methods: The data of 236 patients treated with the diagnosis of AA in 2019-2020 were analyzed.

A theoretical study of vibronic coupling in the photoelectron spectra of AlN.

This work emphasizes the appearance of non-adiabatic effects in the photoelectron spectra of AlN. It includes electronic structure calculations obtained on the first seven low-lying electronic states of AlN and a nuclear dynamics study utilizing time-dependent and time-independent quantum chemistry approaches. A model vibronic Hamiltonian is constructed in a diabatic electronic representation to estimate the coupling parameters corresponding to the fifteen vibrational modes of AlN.

Orthokeratinised odontogenic cyst (OOC) is a distinct and an uncommon odontogenic cyst of jaw. It was previously considered as orthokeratinized variant of Odontogenic Keratocyst, owing to its same site, age and occurrence and origin. In 2017 WHO classified OOC under odontogenic cysts as a distinct entity, clearly separating it from Odontogenic Keratocyst (OKC).

Vulvar reconstruction in post-RT case using the versatile VRAM flap: reporting the rare extrapelvic approach.

Although primary vulvovaginal reconstruction following vulvectomy has a significant chance of improving patient outcomes, flap reconstruction is not a recognised component of the accepted standard of care for vulvar cancer. We provide a case of a patient who underwent successful vulvar reconstruction using the extrapelvic vertical rectus abdominis myocutaneous (VRAM) flap. This musculocutaneous flap offers adequate coverage and bulk to the perineal defect after excision in post-irradiated vulvar cancer.

Species composition and diversity dynamics of the actinomycetes was studied in five salt basins of arid and semi-arid areas of Rajasthan, India. A novel approach integrating molecular (16S rRNA gene) and diversity indices was applied to reveal species composition and diversity dynamics. Actinomycetes isolates of arid zone of Indian Thar Desert and efficacy of their bioactive compounds against human pathogenic bacteria.

Twenty-six morphotypes of actinomycetes bacteria were isolated from the soils of arid zone of Indian Thar desert, Rajasthan. A significant and positive correlation was found between density of actinomycetes isolates and availability of nitrogen in sandy soil of arid zone suggesting the influence of soil nitrogen on occurrence and propagation of actinomycetes in this region.
