Lefua hoffmanni Herre 1932 has been regarded as a valid species. However, Zheng (1989) suggested that L. hoffmanni may be a junior synonym of Oreonectes platycephalus Günther 1868.

Rhinogobius flumineus and Cobitis takatsuensis were described as new species by Prof. Nobuhiko Mizuno in 1960 and 1970, respectively. Within the manuscripts, he mentioned that he had preserved the type specimens of these species in his private collection.

Systolic anterior motion of the anterior mitral leaflet can persist after ventricular septal myectomy for obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, resulting in residual pressure gradients and mitral regurgitation. However, additional procedures for systolic anterior motion involving mitral valve leaflet suturing and resection may lead to future valve disease. Therefore, we adopted posterior papillary muscle suspension, a subvalvular procedure for functional mitral regurgitation, to treat systolic anterior motion without directly intervening in the mitral valve leaflets.

Article Synopsis
  • C-type lectin receptors (CLRs) play a role in immune responses by recognizing sugars on pathogens and body components, with Dectin-1 being a key CLR that targets β-glucan.
  • Human Dectin-1 interacts with CLEC-2, another CLR on platelets, and is identified as a mucin-like protein with a specific glycan that allows this interaction, unlike its mouse counterpart.
  • The study shows that introducing human Dectin-1 in mice can correct issues caused by a lack of another ligand, demonstrating that an innate immune receptor can also act as a physiological regulator through glycosylation.

Hemigrammocypris neglecta is a small-sized cyprinid fish that is endemic to Japan and the sole member of the genus Hemigrammocypris. We examined the osteological features of the species, and its relationships with related genera are discussed. The present data suggest that H.

The cephalic lateral line canal systems were compared among 12 species of the cyprinid tribe Opsariichthyini. All species were characterized by the separation of the supraorbital canal from both the infraorbital and the temporal canals, and the left side of the supratemporal canal from the right side of the canal. In species of , , , and , and the temporal canal was separated from the preoperculomandibular canal.

Article Synopsis
  • The study uses molecular dynamics simulations to explore how flexible side chains affect the crystallization of various polythiophene derivatives, specifically comparing P3HT, PQT6, P3DDT, and PQT12.
  • For polythiophenes with short side chains (P3HT and PQT6), nucleation begins with the alignment of thiophene rings followed by the main chains, leading to ordered side chains after rigid main chains stack.
  • In contrast, polymers with long and dense side chains (like P3DDT) experience a slower overall nucleation process, with rapid side chain ordering but a lower degree of main chain organization compared to the shorter side chain variants.

Curdlan is a polysaccharide that is expected to work as a gene carrier. We synthesized chemically cross-linked Curdlan (CCC) gel and examined its characterization. CCC gels were swollen with alkaline water over pH ∼10.
