Extra-axial primary meningeal pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma: a case report.

Pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma (PXA) is a rare low-grade glial neoplasm of the central nervous system accounting for less than 1% of all astrocytomas. Similar to other gliomas, it can rarely arise from glial nests in the meninges, manifesting as an extra-axial mass mimicking a meningioma. Extra axial PXA is an extremely rare entity.

This study is a randomized clinical trial in which the patients were randomly divided into three groups; group (A) included 25 patients subjected to cryotherapy, group (B) included 25 patients subjected to intralesional injection of tuberculin PPD and group (C) included 25 patients subjected to cryotherapy plus intralesional injection of tuberculin PPD.

Association of IVS6A GATT polymorphism of CFTR gene with cystic fibrosis: first study in CF and normal Tunisian population.

Background: Cystic fibrosis (CF) is the most common autosomal recessive disease in Caucasians, caused by mutation in cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR). Topical calcipotriol vs narrowband ultraviolet B in treatment of alopecia areata: a randomized-controlled trial.

Alopecia areata is a chronic relapsing autoimmune inflammatory hair disorder with no novel therapy. The objectives of this study are to compare the efficacy of topical calcipotriol vs narrow band ultraviolet B phototherapy (NB-UVB) in the treatment of alopecia areata and its correlation with serum vitamin D levels. A randomized-controlled trial has been conducted on 60 patients with scalp alopecia areata randomized into four groups; topical calcipotriol, NB-UVB, both and placebo.

Background And Aim: Varicocele is one of the most common causes of male infertility. Leptin that has a role in sperm motility may have a role of varicocele. We aimed to study the effect of varicocelectomy on the serum and seminal leptin in patients with asthenozoospermia and the correlation between leptin levels, sperm parameters and varicocele grade.

25-Hydroxy cholecalciferol, anti-Müllerian hormone, and thyroid profiles among infertile men.

Background And Aim: We examined the relationship among vit.D, AMH, FT3, FT4, and TSH, in addition to the serum levels of reproductive hormones (FSH, LH, prolactin, and free testosterone), in oligoasthenoteratozoospermia and azoospermia patients in a cohort of infertile men from Egypt to establish a clinical marker/cause-effect relationship.

Methods: This cross-sectional cohort study was carried out on 301 men (105 males with oligoasthenoteratozoospermia and 96 males with azoospermia), in addition to 100 controls.

Platelet Indices as a marker for early prediction of erectile dysfunction in diabetic patients.

Erectile dysfunction is one of the major concerns in diabetic patients. Platelet Indices including mean platelet volume, platelet count and platelet distribution width are important biomarkers for platelet activation and pathophysiology of atherothrombosis. Measurement of Platelet Indices may early predict erectile dysfunction in diabetic men.

Effect of narrow-band ultraviolet B on the serum of 25-hydroxyvitamin D in vitiligo patients.

Background: Narrow-band ultraviolet B (NB-UVB) is the gold standard in the treatment of vitiligo. 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25-OH- vitamin D) might play a physiological role in photo-induced melanogenesis in human skin so the association between vitamin D levels and vitiligo still needs to be investigated more thoroughly.

Objective: we aim to investigate the influence of cumulative doses of NB-UVB phototherapy on vitamin D in patients with vitiligo and their correlation with NB-UVB-induced pigmentation.
