Preparation and evaluation of a coated smectite clay-based material modified with epichlorohydrin-dimethylamine for the diclofenac removal.

This study reports the analysis of diclofenac removal from aqueous solution using a novel adsorbent coating with amphoteric surface. This adsorbent coating was improved using a new amphoteric ratio to increase its performance for the removal of pharmaceuticals such as diclofenac. The adsorbent coating was formulated using acrylic polymer emulsion, smectite-based clay powder and epichlorohydrin-dimethylamine to obtain a layer form via the implementation of a facile synthesis method.

Outcome of adult cardiac surgery following COVID-19 infection in unvaccinated population in a national tertiary centre.

Background: Ever since COVID-19 was declared a pandemic, the world medical landscape has changed dramatically. As cardiac surgeons we not only have the duty to protect our patients and staff from COVID-19 infection, but we are also tasked with the responsibility to ensure those cardiovascular patients awaiting surgery are not harmed from an extended delay in surgery as the world comes to a halt from COVID-19. Currently there is limited literature on the outcome of cardiac surgery in the pre-operative Covid positive group.

Support vector machines for oil classification link with polyaromatic hydrocarbon contamination in the environment.

The main focus of this study is exploring the spatial distribution of polyaromatics hydrocarbon links between oil spills in the environment via Support Vector Machines based on Kernel-Radial Basis Function (RBF) approach for high precision classification of oil spill type from its sample fingerprinting in Peninsular Malaysia. Formation of grassy TiO nanotube thin film by anodisation in peroxide electrolyte for Cr(VI) removal under ultraviolet radiation.

Arrays of TiO nanotubes (TiO NTs) with grassy surfaces were observed on titanium foil anodised at 60 V in fluorinated ethylene glycol (EG) with added hydrogen peroxide (HO). The grassy surface was generated by the chemical etching and dissolution of the surface of the TiO NTs walls, which was accelerated by the temperature increase on the addition of HO .
