Visceral artery pseudoaneurysms are potentially lethal lesions and tend to rupture in a high proportion of cases, thereby warranting an immediate and active intervention. We present our experience of splanchnic visceral artery pseudoaneurysms in a university hospital over a 5-year time interval with emphasis on etiology, clinical presentation, management (endovascular/surgical), and final outcome. This was a retrospective study in which we searched our image database for pseudoaneurysms of visceral arteries over a period of 5 years.

Background & Objectives: Haemoptysis in children is potentially life-threatening. In most cases, the bleeding arises from the systemic circulation, and in 5-10 per cent of cases, it arises from the pulmonary circulation. The role of computed tomography angiography (CTA) in this setting is important.

Homocystinuria is a genetic inborn error of metabolism due to the deficiency of cystathionine β-synthase resulting in increased serum homocysteine and methionine and decreased cysteine which predisposes affected individuals to arterial and venous thromboembolic phenomena. We present a case of homocystinuria who presented to us as a calcified right atrial mass during the evaluation for lower respiratory tract infection. Our case reveals an unusual mix of findings using imaging with multiple detector computed tomography and radiographs.

Synopsis of recent research by authors named "Tahleel Altaf Shera"

  • - Tahleel Altaf Shera's recent research predominantly focuses on complications and management strategies related to interventional radiology procedures, particularly in the context of lung biopsies and vascular anomalies.
  • - His studies highlight the prevalence of pneumothorax as a common complication in CT-guided lung biopsies and emphasize the urgent need for effective management of visceral artery pseudoaneurysms due to their high risk of rupture.
  • - Additionally, Shera investigates the utility of computed tomography angiography (CTA) in diagnosing vascular abnormalities related to haemoptysis in children, showcasing the significance of advanced imaging techniques in clinical decision-making.
