Anti-nuclear mitotic apparatus (NuMA) 1 antibodies are uncommonly detected in routine antinuclear antibody (ANA) screening. We present the case of a 65-year-old female with rheumatoid arthritis undergoing golimumab biotherapy who developed lupus-like symptoms including photosensitivity, fatigue, weakness, myalgias, alopecia, oral ulcers, and worsening of arthritis. Elevated serum levels of NuMA-1 antibodies were detected using indirect immunofluorescence (IIF) on HEp-2 cells with a titer of 1:1000, but no other ANA patterns were associated.

Background and objective Secukinumab (SECU) is a biologic disease-modifying antirheumatic drug (bDMARD) that has demonstrated effectiveness against axial spondyloarthritis (ax-SpA). However, in clinical practice, secukinumab is most commonly used as a second-line treatment after failure of or intolerance to tumor necrosis factor inhibitors (TNFi). In this study, we aimed to compare the two-year drug retention between secukinumab and TNFi in biologic-naïve patients with ax-SpA, to estimate the remission/low disease activity (LDA) rates in both groups and assess the safety profiles.

Article Synopsis
  • TMJ involvement in psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is rare but can cause significant pain and difficulty with jaw movement, as illustrated by a 35-year-old male patient with guttate psoriasis.
  • The patient experienced TMJ pain, decreased mouth opening, and symptoms of inflammatory pain in the lumbar and buttock regions, leading to a diagnosis of PsA.
  • Effective treatment with tumor necrosis factor alpha inhibitors resulted in full remission, highlighting the importance of timely diagnosis and management to prevent long-term TMJ damage and improve quality of life.

Background: The most prevalent subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphoma is diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). Germinal center B-cell (GCB) and non-germinal center B-cell (non GCB) are the two main biologically different molecular subtypes identified utilizing an immunohistochemistry-based approach.

Aim: Our objective in this study is to analyze the impact of immunohistochemical subtypes of DLBCL (GCB or non GCB) on demographic and clinicopathological parameters, response to chemotherapy and survival outcomes.

Introduction: Our study aimed to evaluate the integration level of non-pharmacological management (NPM) for rheumatoid arthritis (RA), analyze attitudes, practices, and perceived barriers towards NPM implementation, and identify factors contributing to the underutilization of non-pharmacological treatment in RA.

Material And Methods: A descriptive and analytical cross-sectional study was conducted among rheumatologists in Morocco. Rheumatologists received an online questionnaire gathering sociodemographic data, NPM integration level for RA, exploring their attitudes, practices and perceived barriers regarding the integration of NPM for RA, using a Likert scale ranging from 1 to 5.

  • H syndrome is a rare genetic condition characterized by skin changes (like hyperpigmentation and excessive hair growth) and affects multiple body systems due to a specific gene mutation.
  • A case study of a 24-year-old Moroccan male with insulin-dependent diabetes shows various symptoms, including skin issues and musculoskeletal problems like foot abnormalities and joint contractures.
  • The report emphasizes the serious rheumatological impacts of H syndrome and discusses potential treatments to help improve these musculoskeletal issues.

Certolizumab-induced liver injury is exceptionally rare, with only a few cases reported in the literature. We present the case of a 34-year-old man with axial ankylosing spondylitis (AS) who developed a drug-induced liver injury following treatment with certolizumab. Despite the initial ineffectiveness of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and an inadequate response to infliximab, the patient achieved remission of AS symptoms with certolizumab.

Article Synopsis
  • Rheumatologists have limited knowledge about patients' use of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) for rheumatic diseases, making it important to understand its prevalence and benefits to enhance patient care.
  • A study conducted at a Moroccan University Hospital found that 46% of participants used at least one CAM method, with cupping therapy being the most popular (36%), primarily for pain relief (55%).
  • The study indicated that patients with higher education levels were significantly less likely to use CAM, highlighting the influence of education on treatment choices and the perceived effectiveness of different CAM approaches.

Objective: To evaluate the vaccination coverage of patients with chronic inflammatory rheumatic disease (CIRD) against influenza, pneumococcus, and COVID-19 and to determine, per the patients' point of view, the possible factors related to vaccination hesitation and/or refusal.

Methods: A cross-sectional study carried out by the vaccination working group of the Moroccan Society of Rheumatology, including patients with CIRD in Morocco. Information about vaccination coverage and reasons for non-vaccination against influenza, pneumococcal infection, and COVID-19 was collected.

Introduction Non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis (nr-axSpA) is within the spectrum of axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA). The emergence of the nr-axSpA concept, defined by the absence of significant erosive damage to the sacroiliac joints, has prompted numerous initiatives aimed at enhancing the early detection and management of this condition. The aim of the study was to assess the knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to the diagnosis and management of nr-axSpA by rheumatologists in Morocco.

Introduction: Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) is the second most common skin cancer, accounting for 20% of malignant skin tumors. Dermoscopy is a very useful tool for diagnosing cSCC, and its findings are confirmed through histopathological studies.

Objectives: to describe the different dermoscopic structures of invasive cSCC and investigate their association with the clinical form and histopathological grade of differentiation.

Malignant rhabdoid tumor is an uncommon pediatric tumor that often arises from the kidneys but can also develop in other soft tissues including the orbits, where it is known as atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumor. Orbital location is exceptional, with just a few reported cases. Imaging allows for an accurate diagnosis, but histological confirmation is required.

Endometrial stromal sarcoma (ESS) is an uncommon uterine mesenchymal neoplasm. The primary extra-uterine location of ESS is a very rare occurrence. We present a case of a 39-year-old woman presented with severe abdominal pain, MRI showed bilateral ovarian tumors with heterogeneous intensity on T2-weighted imaging (T2WI) and T1-weighted imaging (T1WI), with restricted diffusion, including hyperintense areas on T1WI, not erased on T1-weighted fat-suppressed imaging, hypointense on T2WI, and not enhanced after contrast.

Accessory breast tissue (supernumerary breast tissue) is due to the absence of regression of the primitive milk lines during embryonic life which extends from the axilla to the groin. It is mostly located in the axilla where it is often confused with the axillary extension of the breast, or any pathological process occurring in armpits. Ectopic mammary glands should not be misdiagnosed as it can potentially undergo the same pathological processes that occur in a normally located breast including benign or malignant breast tumors.

Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is a rare and slowly growing cutaneous tumor with high risk of local invasion and recurrence. Here, we report a case of a DFSP of the anterior abdominal wall diagnosed in a 45-year-old woman. The clinical examination showed an indurated well-limited oval mass localized in the supra-umbilical level and measuring 5 cm by 3 cm.
