The study aimed to determine the in-vitro effect of metformin on total antioxidant capacity (TAC) of seminal samples of infertile male subjects. It was conducted from January to June 2022 on forty-four seminal plasma samples collected from male infertile patients, age ranging from 18 to 55 years. All 44 semen samples were treated as three distinct groups: (i) a control group (ii) a study group subjected to oxidative stress (OS) induction and (iii) a test group exposed to OS induction and subsequent treatment with metformin.

  • Domestic violence and related homicides are significant public health issues in India, and there are currently no effective tools to help identify women in abusive relationships.
  • The study developed two risk assessment tools: the Danger Assessment for in-laws (DA-L) to assess risks from in-laws and the Danger Assessment for Women in India (DA-WI) for risks from partners, addressing a critical gap in existing instruments.
  • Both the DA-L (11 items) and DA-WI (26 items) were found to be reliable and valid through testing with longitudinal data from 150 women, aiding practitioners in identifying at-risk individuals and creating tailored safety plans.

The mutating SARS-CoV-2 necessitates gauging the role of airborne particulate matter in the COVID-19 outbreak for designing area-specific regulation modalities based on the environmental state-of-affair. To scheme the protocols, the hotspots of air pollutants such as PM, PM, NH, NO, NO, SO, and and environmental factors including relative humidity (RH), and temperature, along with COVID-19 cases and mortality from January 2020 till December 2020 from 29 different ground monitoring stations spanning Delhi, are mapped. Spearman correlation coefficients show a positive relationship between SARS-COV-2 with particulate matter (PM with r > 0.

There are thousands of flights carrying millions of passengers each day, having three or more Internet-connected devices with them on average. Usually, onboard devices remain idle for most of the journey (which can be of several hours), therefore, we can tap on their underutilized potential. Although these devices are generally becoming more and more resourceful, for complex services (such as related to machine learning, augmented/virtual reality, smart healthcare, and so on) those devices do not suffice standalone.

This study investigated the mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) control region variation in Middle Eastern populations (610 individuals from Lebanon, Jordan and the Kingdom of Bahrain) for which population data are scarce. FST comparison among populations revealed that there are significant differences in mtDNA distributions between Bahrain and the two other populations, while Lebanon and Jordan showed no significant differences. This was also reflected by the distribution of the observed lineages that differed prominently between Bahrain and the other two investigated populations.

It is important that dental extractions under general anaesthesia (GA) are planned appropriately to avoid a repeat GA in the future. Current guidelines recommend the input of an orthodontist when the treatment plan involves a permanent tooth extraction but the number of children undergoing GA extractions makes this challenging. A model has been developed where the records of children planned for GA extraction of permanent teeth are triaged, via secure email, by an orthodontist.

Previous literature has highlighted a high burden of a variety of psychopathologies such as anxiety, depression, and poor sleep quality among Pakistani physicians. These psychopathologies are associated with a poor quality of life and cognitive difficulties, affecting empathy levels, doctor patient relationship, and work performance. It is a cross sectional study in which 300 Pakistani physicians aged 45 and above, were interviewed using a questionnaire comprising hospital anxiety and depression scale, cognitive difficulties scale, and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index.

General practice is at the forefront of the National Health Service, but is currently being overwhelmed by ever-increasing patient demand and financial constraints. Telephone consultations (TCs) have been used as a method to ease pressure on general practice. Many of these consultations are booked with general practioners (GPs), despite occasions when the patient could have either been signposted to self-help or offered an alternative service.

Simultaneous indirect assessment of multiple and diverse plant parameters in an exact and expeditious manner is becoming imperative in irrigated arid regions, with a view toward creating drought-tolerant genotypes or for the management of precision irrigation. This study aimed to evaluate whether spectral reflectance indices (SRIs) in three parts of the electromagnetic spectrum ((visible-infrared (VIS), near-infrared (NIR)), and shortwave-infrared (SWIR)) could be used to track changes in morphophysiological parameters of wheat cultivars exposed to 1.00, 0.

  • The study aimed to investigate the effects of Citrullus colocynthis on beta cell regeneration and intra-islet blood vessel development in male Wistar rats with induced diabetes.
  • Rats were divided into groups, with some receiving different doses of Citrullus colocynthis while others served as controls, and outcomes were measured after 14 days.
  • Results showed that Citrullus colocynthis helped stabilize body weight, significantly reduced fasting blood sugar levels, increased the size and count of beta cells, and led to a rise in intra-islet capillaries, suggesting a positive impact on diabetes management.

Background: Physician associates, known internationally as physician assistants, are a mid-level practitioner, well established in the United States of America but new to the United Kingdom. A small number work in primary care under the supervision of general practitioners, where they most commonly see patients requesting same day appointments for new problems. As an adjunct to larger study, we investigated the quality of the patient consultation of physician associates in comparison to that of general practitioners.
